INFERNO2000 0 Posted June 5, 2000 I'm wanting to set up a small server with some utilities from Windows 2000 Server...or Windows 2000 Advanced Server. I have Advanced Server immediately available, whereas Server I'll have from work in a week. Is there a way I can install Windows 2000 Advanced Server, and set up services in such a way that I can have its resource consumption down to NEAR-Professional levels? My computer is a Pentium III 500 160 MB PC100 RAM 43.5 GB hdd, etc. etc. ------------------ PIII 500 (Pre CuMine) 160MB RAM GeForce DDR Sonic Impact S90 Win2K Prof(and W98SE, but unused for 2 months) Logitech Itouch Elite Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer Everglide (HL Giganta) Logitech Quickcam Home etc. etc. etc. Share this post Link to post
Palos 0 Posted June 13, 2000 It's unlikely...W2K adv.server takes up a lot of memory due to all the services it needs to have up and running. You can go and disable manually some of them, but it's not a good idea...i noticed that adv.server takes up to 20-30 more mb ram after boot than w2k pro. Hey, it's a server solution, and servers have usually quite "potent" resources (CPU, RAM, buses, etc...) Share this post Link to post
