Higher FPS in Q3A with r_smp 1.

Recommended Posts

How much extra fps could one expect with r_smp 1 in Q3 Arena? I use BP6 2 celeron 533@576 GeForce DDR with detonator 3.81.

My fps:

r_smp 0: 106 fps.

r_smp 1: 115 fps.

Seems about right. Depends on your resolution and detail levels. Mine seems to only go up by about 5 fps. TNT2 non-ultra.

Under nt4 I gained about 10-20 fps depending on the graphic settings.

Are you running under w2k??? I can't get my q3 to run with smp=1 under w2k, and I have a tnt2 ultra

Depends a lot on your resolution and depth of colour.

I get approximately 42 fps for 1024x768 (trilinear + 32 bit colour) on my 2 x Cel300A@450 Mhz

But experience random lockup more often. If I run on /r_smp 0, it rarely (can almost say never) lockup my system.

Regarding Tbb:s query.

I´m running win2k 2195 (Final) with r_smp 1. I used to run with r_smp 0 because of lockups, but the problem seems to be gone. Don´t know why.

Mail for config.

I've finally gotten r_smp to work by using the 3.81 drivers and overwriting the nvoglnt.dll with the one from the NT 4.0 5.06 drivers. A couple of hours of playing and no lockups. It gives me about 5 extra fps.

Err. I would like to update my benchmark results again. smile

I am very impressed by the latest Nvidia reference driver. It gives me 58.8 fps in /r_smp 0 mode.

In /r_smp 1 mode, it gives me 59.6 fps. But it lockup my system several time before I can actually complete the whole benchmark.

Windows 98 gives me 56 fps.
