Can't get Half-Life to work.... at all!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I looked through all posts but couldn't seem to find any fix to the the problem I have!

It's quite simple. Whenever I try to run Half-Life I get a Windows error and a log is created (or so the error says!). Could a patch fix this problem??

I have Win2k RC2...

Thanks...

What kind of system are you running? I have a P3@500mhz with 320mb of Ram and a Voodoo 3 3000. Half-Life has been the easiest game to get running. I'm using the Voodoo 3 drivers that are posted at http://seldzar.dhs.org/ Maybe there you can find some help.

I have a Creative RIVA TNT and an Athlon 500MHz. (Also 256 MB Ram and SBLive!)

The error is a normal Win2k. general protection error, and it comes up everytime I run the exe-file...

I'm heading over to the link you gave me right now... Thanks but I probably still can't make it work!

Got the same problem with HL unter w2k2128

CB TNT2U...

It occures only if you've got NO-CD patch on it..., i guess.

I still cant run it, you are not alone...

Its the same for me too, I cant get alot of games to run. Half-Life just craps out everytime. I have the warez version but it shouldn't matter....anyway, hopefully someone finds a way.

Yes, for Halflife it really does matter if you have the retail or warez version. The warez version only works by patching the .exe file AFTER its loaded into memory (to defeat the checksum checks later in the game) which is a definite no-no under NT, so it will not work. If you want to play HL, buy the game and it will work!

I had the same problem too..

Make sure you autoupdate Halflife.

Get the newest patch for it and it will work great.
