SCALE UPDATE: Ubucon, FAD and Keysigning, oh my!

LOS ANGELES -- Ubuntu announces that it will hold the first UbuCon hosted at the Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE 8x) on Friday, Feb. 19, in an all-day session of talks and activities.

Part unconference and part scheduled sessions, UbuCon will cover what is going on with, and how to improve, the Ubuntu community. The final hour of the event will include lightning talks.

If you use Ubuntu, are interested in Ubuntu or want to know more about Ubuntu, check in with Ubucon. For more information, visit http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale8x/special-events/ubucon

Fedora will host its Fedora Activity Day (FAD), its second in Los Angeles at SCALE 8x, on Friday, Feb. 19, with the focus on organizing Fedora Project/JBoss.org joint mentoring for the upcoming 2010 Google Summer of Code.

The Fedora team invites those interested in attending to help create process and how-to content, solve and mentor problems and educate the wider community about how participation is conducted this year in an effort to improve the capacity for more students and mentors for the Google program, as well as others.

In addition, one of the mainstays of SCALE is the keysigning party, and once again SCALE 8x will host the SCALE 8x PGP Keysigning Party on Saturday, Feb. 20.

A keysigning party is a get-together with PGP users for the purpose of meeting other PGP users and signing each other’s keys. This helps extend the “web of trust†to a great degree, while also providing a forum to discuss strong cryptography and related issues.

To sign up and to find out more information on the SCALE 8x PGP Keysigning Party, visit http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/scale8x/special-events/scale-8x-pgp-keysigning-party

The Southern California Linux Expo SCALE 8x will be held from Feb. 19-21 at the Westin Los Angeles Airport hotel. For more information, visit http://www.socallinuxexpo.org
