KA7-100 and Windows 2000 CRASHES!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I just got a new KA7-100 mobo, and I am having quite a few problems getting

my computer back up to work.

Here are my specs:

asus v6800 Geforce 32 DDR

SB Live ! value

Intel and Macronix NIC's

20 gig maxtor HD

3.2 gig WD HD

526 Ram. Pc-100

Athalon 750.

3 partition on 20 gig, 1 for WinMe, 1 for Win2k.

The problem I have is that there seems to be some sort of conflict with the

PCI slots and installing an operating system

I initially install Windows ME, and everything seemed to work fine. Then I

try and upgrade to Windows 2k, which is my standard operating system.

I get throught the whole copying files process with no hitch. The computer

reboots, and then goes into a quasi-windows environment where it says it is

detecting my devices. It gets about half way through the progress bar, and

the system basically hard locks, keyboard/mouse dont work.

I tried various things, and when I took out all my PCI cards (sound card and

2 nics) the installation went throught, and i got to the OS. So I went

ahead and plugged my cards back in. When I got back into the system, it

froze once it reached the Windows 2000 OS. So then through Win ME I got the

newest KA7-100 flash, and flashed the system. I plugged my cards back in

restarted, and Windows 2000 worked.

Then I installed the Livewire drivers for my sound card. When the system

rebooted, it showed that some file for the Creative Launcher was missing,

and it hard locked. So I thought it was because the installation process

got interrupted so many times when I was installing before. So i formatted

the Win2k partition in Windows ME, and did the setup once again.

Lo and behold it crashed in the detecting devices part of the install

again!!!! This is after the mother board flash.... I have no idea what to

do, but it seems as soon as I plug in any PCI card, Windows 2000 locks up...

I need that OS since I am running a home network.

Like I said Windows ME works fine, I am online right now.

Thanks!!!
