Sapphire Radeon HD 4730 512MB video card review @ Elite Bastards

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

With stocks of graphics boards based around AMD's Radeon HD 4770 SKU all but non-existent due to yield issues with TSMC's 40 nanometre manufacturing process, some AIB partners have looked elsewhere for ways to fill this gap in the market. One such partner is Sapphire, who have recently introduced the Radeon HD 4730 in an attempt to offer a similar board and specification without cannibalising the Radeon HD 4770's market once its production difficulties ease. Does it make for a tempting alternative? We check it out.

Sapphire Radeon HD 4730 512MB video card review

"Sapphire's Radeon HD 4730 makes use of a 750MHz core clock speed on its reduced RV770 core, coupled with 512MB of GDDR5 clocked at 900MHz.

In keeping with its choice of GPU core, the Radeon HD 4730 features the same PCB length as other RV770-based parts. The usual pair of CrossFire inter-GPU connectors are present on the board, while power is provided by two six-pin PCI Express power connectors. Sapphire have strapped their own dual-slot cooler to the board - A cooling solution that we've seen on a couple of other Sapphire graphics boards in the past."
