news 28 Posted June 17, 2009 Hi everyone, With Intel's mainstream derivative of Core i7, codenamed Lynnfield, moving ever closer to becoming a reality on retail shelves, we're seeing more and more demonstrations and previews of Intel P55 chipset motherboards to take advantage of these new CPUs and their LGA 1156 socket. Today, we have just such a sneak preview, with a first look at ASUS' Republic of Gamers branded motherboard based around P55, the Maximus III Formula. ASUS Maximus III Formula: First look in pictures "The Maximus Formula III is probably familiar to many of you in terms of both its overall design and aesthetic. One immediately noticeable facet of this particular board is the provision of three physical PCI Express 2.0 16x slots for multi-GPU configurations - It'll be interesting to see if NVIDIA SLI support is provided alongside AMD CrossFire support. It also appears that eight Serial ATA ports are provided, together with a single IDE channel - Two of these SATA ports appear to be running from a different controller, opening up the possibility of SATA-III support. Two PCI and two PCI Express 1x slots round out that aspect of the motherboard's configuration." http://www.elitebastards.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=728&Itemid=31 As always, a news post on your site would be hugely appreciated, and we guarantee to reciprocate by posting any news items received from yourselves.
