The Final Cut Pro User Group Network announced today that the First Annual London SuperMeet will be held in the Great Hall at the Kensington Conference and Event Centre in London, England on Thursday, June 25, 2009. This stand alone SuperMeet follows the standing room only success of the 8th Annual NAB FCPUG SuperMeet held in Las Vegas on April 21, 2009 during NAB.

An estimated crowd of over 1400 people attended the recent 8th Annual NAB FCPUG SuperMeet, which celebrated the tenth anniversary of Final Cut Pro.

"The energy in the room was infectious and judging from the feedback we received, everyone had a great time," said Michael Horton, head of the Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group and SuperMeet co-producer. "We had a line of people queued up well before the doors opened and when we did open the doors, people literally ran for their seats."

"This SuperMeet felt like an absolute revival, and we all really needed the boost," said Daniel Berube, head of the Boston Final Cut Pro User Group and SuperMeet co-producer. "We had a dynamic line up of user-driven presentations covering everything from brand new Final Cut Studio tips and techniques, show and tells from Digital Filmmakers, world premiere announcements for new hardware and software and $100,00 worth of raffle prizes."

Final Cut Pro User Groups (FCPUG) started as a grassroots movement to connect Apple Final Cut Pro Editors at a local level. Now in its 8th year, the producers behind the SuperMeet have harnessed the energy of local chapters globally and turned SuperMeets into the industry's most influential user-organized series of global events.

"This London SuperMeet will be our first stand alone SuperMeet that is not tied to a trade show," added Dan Berube. "It will not be our last either, as we move forward to distance ourselves from trade shows and further build our global community with unique offerings. We have brilliant support in the UK from the creative community and we expect another excellent turnout."

SuperMeets provide the postproduction and broadcast community an opportunity to not only learn about the latest technology trends, but to connect with each other to discuss experiences and opportunities within the industry in a social setting that is both educational and fun.

"If anything the NAB SuperMeet made it clear that there is enormous demand for these sorts of events not only here in the US, but around the world," continued Michael Horton.

It is expected the London SuperMeet will sell out as historically SuperMeets always sell out. Tickets will go on sale online only beginning May 18, 2009 for only £10.99 each. Final agenda will be announced approximately three weeks before the SuperMeet. SuperMeets are held annually along side large trade shows such as Macworld in San Francisco, NAB in Las Vegas, IBC in Amsterdam and in 2009 as a stand alone event in London. The agenda usually includes demos of new products, digital video tips and tricks, and filmmaker show and tells. In addition there is the FCP Showcase featuring at least a dozen vendors.
