WD External HD causing blue screen of death?

I have a 250 GB Western Digital HD in an Enermax Laureate enclosure. I've been useing it for months with my computer to store my media (music, pics, etc). Today my computer didn't see it, and when I plugged it back in I got the blue screen of death. I unplugged the drive and hooked up to my laptop and it crashed. My desktop is running XP SP2, and my laptop is running XP SP1. I've never hooked the drive up to my laptop before today. When I turn the drive on nothing out of the ordinary happen, all the usual lights and sounds. So my question is this, how dead is it, and can I get my music back.

I've seen this with 2.5 inch drives here at work. Unfortunately something goes bad on the firmware or bootsector of the drive. I'd go to WD's site with your serial number and pray it is still under warranty.
