Well, you could just read the docs that come with the tool, or check up on their web-site...

 

The boot-time defrag defrags files that are ootherwise unavialable, like the Master File Table, and the page file.

 

Yes, it does make a difference.

I use it. I think its really good. Although I recommend doing it after you have defragged already. In other words dont do it when its heavily fragmented. Directory's in win2k cant be defragged while running thats the purpose of the boottime defrag. I think its good to do it every now and then. My system seems to run really good after it. Plus sometimes if your directory's arent defragged you cannot fully defrag your drive.

Im not sure but it might be that you need a certain percentage of free drive space. Like 15% or something. So if you have like a 30 gig drive 2 gigs wont be enough.
