Windows networking problems

Recommended Posts

I have a windows 2003 server setup which runs NAT and ISA 2000 as web proxy.

Whenever I try to copy files across to the 2003 Server machine it will start and then freeze for a while. Often it will come up with a warning that the network path was not found. But sometimes it will kick itself in the pants and keep going

The strange thing is, that all other traffic unrelated to windows network works perectly.

I usually just keep re-trying the files untill they all work.

What I have tried:

* Removing QOS

* Removing Load Balancing

* Setting the server to be a file server

* Unbinding Client for MS network and file/print sharing from all other cards

* Setting the internal card to higher priority than all other cards

* Setting Windows networking as the highest priority service in the provider order

*Tried other NICS

*Ruled out possible cabling/switch issues

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

maybe try disabling netbios over IP in advanced tcpip properties>wins tab, and install IPX/SPX with netbios support.

See if you can transfer files fast then. this will determine if IP is the culprit or not.
