can ping but cant see

i can ping from the computer but i cannot see other computers on the network or even the network itself. It is just a workgroup and ihave tried recreating the network settings on the puter frown any suggestions. It used to work, not sure what happened?

oh and all pcs are running xp pro

sounds like you have a master browser conflict. I get the same problem on my local network whenever I reboot my server. You can check which machine is the master browser by typing nbtstat -n in a command prompt. The way to correct this is to stop and start the computer browser service on your server.
