Windows XP refresh rate

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know what is wrong with the registry refresh rate fix solution provided on this site?

I have followed the steps etc, and it really does set the correct refresh rate, but it messes all up.. all other resolutions and refresh rates.. as if the resolution I added is the maximum one.

How to add resolution modes but not to mess all other up??

Thanks.

Install the latest Nvidia drivers. The 52.xx series has supposedly fixed the refresh rate even for OpenGL.

Use powerstrip then.

If you are using ATI Radeon series Card:

1. install latest drivers and control panel

2. go into advanced display properties

3. display -> monitor -> click on monitor

4. Refresh Rate Override -> Same as desktop

If you are using Nvidia (all series) Card:

1. install latest drivers

3. go into advanced display properties

3. refresh rate override

4. set desired refresh rate @ specific resolution

note: in 4x.xx series this trick only works for direct3d games, for 5x.xx series it'll work for both direct3d and opengl

These steps will provide desired refresh rate for both direct3d and opengl games/applications, which 3rd party utilities (eg powerstrip) is not needed.

I recommend using RefreshForce, which changes the properties for your monitor, so it can only handle one refreshrate for a certain resolution. (Instead of being dependent on the type of Video Adapter and driver versions)

I'm using it for my GF4 Ti4400 and it works wonders (Also allow you to configure your Monitor profile beyond the original refreshrate limits, though this is not always recommended)
