Dont think of it as an application accelerator, it seems to be just an IDE driver.

I use it with no problem and it definatly works on non-p4 systems as i use it on laptops at work with the 830M chipset. (p3s).

As far as im aware, this should only work on mobos with an intel chipset, otherwise just use the via ide drivers.

They wouldn't install. I completely forgot mini-me uses an SiS chipset when I clicked to install the last IAA set (not the beta ones posted the other day) - it just came up with a message that it's for Intel only.

I've not run any benchies but I haven't noticed a great difference, I had to disable XP's Prefetch to stop my Geforce card displaying 4 colour 640x480.

IAA is good and improves your performance it is a must for any system however.

Due to my experience follow the following rules:

1.Always install it on a fresh install where there is no data to be lost, and after the chipset information thingy.

2. never under any circumstance try to replace or update it with a newer version just cause it is available. You will be introduced to Boot device cannot be mounted error msg along with a BSOD.

3.Only way to fix point 2 is if you have a multi boot system or can access your HDD on a seperate system as a secondery HD. You extract the new IAA files, find them in your drive under system32 and other places and just overwrite them.

4. I repeat again for those does not understand, on a fresh install only, no up[censored]. I have not seen a single succesful update under W2k or WXP.

BTW, the day intel makes drivers for VIA systems i will walk around in a gorilla costume.
