False Install @ Start Up

Recommended Posts

I had an istall of a plug in go wrong when I was installing a component from the office 2000 suite. The system hung up and then rebooted. I think it was a short power out that caused it. I reinstalled the needed component but noticed that when the system was coming back up there was a " installing Microsof Office setup" screen with an error message. I cancelled the install and went about my stuff. Now everytime I start up the system the install tries to go therough it's setup routine and ends up giving me the same error.

How do I get rid of that startup program?

Thanks in advanceconfused

Not sure that this will cure it:

Click the Start button, point to Settings , and click Control Panel .

Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

Click to select Microsoft Office 2000 , and click Add/Remove .

Click Repair Office .

It may want you to reinstall Office, in that case you should

Select Reinstall Office , and click Finish .

Hope this helps

You could look (in the case of Office is working) that you don't have any Office Installer Executables in your Registry's "RUN" Section!

This is one of the registry keys Visceroid was referring to: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run The other place you need to look is in your startup folder.
