My files have disappeared

Recommended Posts

i was moving stuff about on my hard drive, and after cutting and pasting about 45 files into one directory, my computer crashed giving me a bsod error, so i restarted. when i got back into windows i found that the files were not shown in explorer, but im pretty sure they arent gone/deleted as the free space hasnt changed. Anyone got any ideas how to recover them. Im not sure if this is the right forum for this message so sorry if its not. Thanks.

Hmm..

If you know the exact filesize and the names of each of the files, you can renmae the FILE0001.chk etc to the relevant filename.

Because you BSOD'd, Windows would have done a Scandisk on the way up, and corrections would have been made to your filesystem.

Look in your root directory (C:\) and look for the file0001.chk etc, and do your best.

Were all the files the same? i.e mp3's, doc's, etc?

If they were just rename the *.chk's to *.mp3's etc

You can then rename them to what you know after.

Other than this solution, I don't know.

Hello,

[censored] DataRecoveryWizard utility can help. Speaking about me, it was

easily able to restore deleted, lost file and unformat drive,

so I think you will also find it quite useful. Really recommended

tool, give it a try.
