Simple Quaestion - No use of Win2k CD?

Recommended Posts

A friend and I are building new computers for a few people, now, the OS we'll be using is Windows 2000 Professional and since these computers are for....lets say...."Not so computer literate" people, How can i make the OS not ever have to ask for the Win2k cd? With all Win9x OS's we'd copy the .CAB files over to the hard drive and then point to them via the registry and the user would never have to use the 9x cd. How can I do this with Win2k or Winxp for that matter?

Try this:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion]

"SourcePath"="I:\\I386"

*EDIT--Whewh...Good thing I took out all that TS stuff! wink:P :p

It works, that's the way I do it for boxes I put together for relatives, family, friends, parents ... smile

Resident I386 folder on some partition and registry key pointing to it.

... I even do it for my own boxes laugh ... no hassle
