Does anyone know how to shutdown a Win 2k machine from the command prompt of another win 2k machine?

The easiest way is to get a proggy called Remote Administrator, it's available from http://www.famatech.com/. It also gives you the possibility to view and work on the other machines desktop in a window.

 

There are other similar progs available also, I even think I saw one that was freeware, but can't recall the name, sorry. Look around the network utilities in various share/freeware sites.

The resource kit shutdown.exe allows you to specify a remote comptuer.

Yes, shutdown.exe from the resource kit will do the job.

 

If anyone is intrested in good admintool in general I can recommend DameWare NT Utilities, the no.1 tool for me at work.
