Abit VP6 Review

Recommended Posts

Franknet has put up a Abit VP6 review.

As you can see, the VP6 is a dual processor capable motherboard. However, it does not support ANY Celeron processors. That´s right folks, this is a Pentium III only board, so be warned. You can run 1 or 2 Pentium III´s in the FC-PGA (Flip Chip-Pin Grid Array) Socket 370. However, to make use of that 2nd cpu, you need to have an operating system that supports SMP (Symmetrical MultiProcessing): Windows NT/2000/ XP Pro, Linux, Unix, BeOS, BSD are examples, but their are many more.

The VP6 is an EXCELLENT duallie board. Unfortunately when the dual P4's/Palamino's really come out it'll be left in the dust.

But it's still a good choice for those of us who can't afford that, at least until Abit get the dual Pally's out. I just killed my wallet between the VP6 and the 800EB's as I bought 'em in town.

They still run pretty cool with stock cooling--better than C Orbs!.

I might get some GlobalWIN's later, but the Intel cooler's are doing a fine job.
