The Taiwan semiconductor manufacturer, the second largest chipset maker after Intel, is using both the S3 and Via brands on the new chipsets in an attempt to dodge legal trouble with Intel, motherboard makers have said. Brian Frank 0 Posted August 14, 2001 I know Via has plenty of enemies, but Intel doesn't need to be one of them. If Via's P4 chipset is crap, why did Intel have a cow at Computex, lest we forget that incedent. Is Intel scared of Via here, or do they not want anyone to have a platform that is better than what they have? I'll readily admit, I like Via and haven't had problems with their chipsets, although I am fully aware that quite a few of you out there do. If Via's P4 chipset has no merit, why is Intel so uptight about it? Intel has produced solid chipsets in the past, even when the requirements were undesirable. Share this post Link to post
