Recommended Posts

Anyone have any idea what use the AUX port on a 400W power supply unit is used for?

Sorry I can't be any more specific cos I'm getting this info from a friend and he don't have all the info with him rite now. ;(

if it's the 6 pin(3 ground, 2 3.3, 1 5), it's used in some higher end server boards for extra power(usually these are dual chip boards)

for the most part, you won't find them unless you're running a dual pentium. The only dual AMD out has a proprietary supply, and the MSI model coming out soon uses the P4 4pin 12V--not sure if it uses the Aux as well.

Ali - the aux input on sound cards is usually just a second line-in port... but if there's nothing hooked to it, it may make noise.
