Recommended Posts

I installed 2465 but now it wont let me kill WMP. I dont like this gay program and i want it OFF. Anyone know how to kill WMP, ive tried from add/remove and ive tried killing the directory manually but both ways it still comes back. I just want the damn thing to DIE. Anyone know how?

don't matter to me, WMP8 opens just as fast here as WMP 6.4 does now, especially when the 1 MB usage or so now. WMP8 is better on my machine here than WMP 6.4 and I rather have the 8.0 codecs, they are smoother as far as quality and stuff

assuming that wmp6 is there, can't you just associate it with all the media types?

You can do this using Unattended setup.

Under [Components]

wmplay=off.

Thats it!

How do you do an unattended setup? I would love to be able to install WinXP/Win2k w/o some things like Windows Media Player, MSN messenger, and Outlook Express. Thanks

Hi,

The following text should be in a floppy with file winnt.sif

It will turn media player off. Since I have not tested XP, I have not come across its documentation, but most probably the component name are same.

;SetupMgrTag

[Data]

AutoPartition=1

MsDosInitiated="0"

UnattendedInstall="Yes"

[unattended]

UnattendMode=FullUnattended

OemSkipEula=Yes

OemPreinstall=No

TargetPath=\WINNT

FileSystem=LeaveAlone

[GuiUnattended]

AdminPassword=*

OEMSkipRegional=1

TimeZone=35

OemSkipWelcome=1

[userData]

FullName="Name"

OrgName="Organization"

ComputerName=Computer

ProductId=ID

[TapiLocation]

CountryCode=107

AreaCode=416

[identification]

JoinWorkgroup=Workgroup

[Networking]

InstallDefaultComponents=Yes

[Components]

mplay=Off
