I got a PC-100 motherboard and I want to buy more RAM for it. Now I went to London Drugs and they said that PC-133 RAM will work on my motherboard because somehow the RAM will lower its speed to 100Mhz instead of 133Mhz. Does this actually work?

Hi, just today my dial-up connection was working fun but later in the day it wouldn't work. In the morning it worked fun, then I tried it in the afternoon, the connection is established but it won't go anywhere. It can't connect to any websites. I assumed it was just a minor problem and just left it. But I tried it again and nothing again, I also tried my other ISP and that one had the same result. Then I tried it on another computer and it worked. Everything was connecting correctly and it was the same ISP. I go back to my original computer and connection is established but it can't go anywhere. I don't know what's wrong. The only think I installed was MSN 6 but I don't think that did anything because when I first installed it and restarted the computer my connection was still fine. So can anyone help me out? Thanks

My parents are planning to get ADSL from the Telus server and I was wondering if my computer will support this high speed connection. It's a 450Mhz, Windows 2000 SP3, 128MB RAM, and 8GB hard drive. The mother board did not come with a ethernet card only a modem. So would that affect the compatiblilty? Also, would an internal or external ethernet be better and would either of them affected the connection speed or anything?

I just got the program Ad-ware 6 to find spyware stuff on my computer. I found about 88 and one of them seemed to show up a lot. I got a program called WebEnhancer in my program files. I don't know what that is but I'm pretty sure that's what's giving spyware. There's no uninstall for it and I also looked in the Add/Remove Program and there was nothing. I don't want to just remove the file because it would still be in the registy right? So any ideas on how to get rid of it?

I was just wondering that in the Program Files folder there's a Common Files folder. What is this folder exactly for? I mean it seems to have lots of vital files that I need but I'm just wondering what it is exactly. Thanks.

I'm looking for a desktop theme making program for Windows 2000. Most of the ones I've found seems to be only for XP or they look really bad. Also do the programs that make these themes save as a .theme then you have to insert it yourself with the theme.exe?

My power save is not working anymore and I'm not sure why. It worked about a week ago and for a long time now, then it just stopped power saving. I checked the properties for power save and it's set at 10 minutes it will turn off. I'm running Windows 2000 and SP3 and it worked with SP3 as well. Anyone have any ideas on what may have happened?

No, I didn't install anything. It just happened not to work all of a sudden.

Anyone know some good methods to save some space in my hard drive. I got a 8BG hard drive which has been patitioned into C drive with 2GB and D drive with 6GB. Now the D drive has plenty of space but C drive I got only 460MB left and something is wrong with my Disk cleanup option so I can't use that. Anyone know how to fix that or like an idea to save space? I got Windows 2000 and Service Pack 3.

I got a laptop and I just got a second hand monitor. Now it's a HP Ergo 1024. When I connect it to the laptop, the laptop is shutted down, and when I turn on the power button, it goes on and off. So in other words it won't turn on. But when I unplug it the laptop runs. Now I think it's actually the monitor because it is one of those monitors when the you have to plug in the wire for the monitor and the tower. Not the ones when you only plug into the tower. The HP monitor works on desktop computers but not laptop because I tested it out and the laptop can use monitors when you only connected it to the computer. I guess in other words it only works with a monitor when you plug it right into the computer but doesn't with the other kind. So anyone got an idea? And I'm very sorry if this is complicated because seems kind of badly explained.

I got a really old computer that's really bad. It has a 75Mhz Pentium, 24MB RAM, sound card, 1MB video card, 15GB, 56k modem and Windows 98. Now I haven't used it for a very long time and I was just planning to use it only for the internet and nothing else. Now I plan to just uninstall everything and just leave Internet Explorer and maybe Acrobat Reader. Would this actually speed up the loading and stuff or should I just reformate the whole thing? Would this computer even be any good for surfing the internet only?

I got a Dell 2500 Inspiron laptop and I connect it to a CRT monitor which is about 7 years old and it's a Dell. It's been working for a year then about 2 weeks ago the screen is all blue but you can still see Windows over this blue. I have no idea why it's like this and I tried to like reset the monitor and stuff like that. You think it's finally busted after all this time?

Does anyone know a good and actually working internet accelerator for a 56k modem. Even though I get an average of 4kbp-6kbps it still kinda sucks. Anyone know a good one?

Ok people I got an e-mail from my friend saying that jdbgmgr.exe is a virus and cannot be detected by Norton or McAfee. It sits in your computer for 14 days before damaging your system and has a teddy bear on it as an icon. So all ya gotta do is search for it using seach on your hard drive then you go edit select all and delete. Now obviously you think "I'M SAVED" but for some reason on my computer it seems to dupilcate itself each time I delete it. I delete it goes into the recycle bin, I empty it and I search for it again, I find it. So anyone got the virus and can help me? I'm running Windows 2000, Service Pack 3 but I don't think that really matters.

I run under Windows 2000 and I wanted to defrag my C drive because there's not a ton of space so I thought that it would free some space. I have enough to make it defrag without the error going "You do not have enough free space to defrage." Anyways the defragement seems really fast and once it's done I don't see any difference at all. I didn't get anymore space in my hard drive. Is it suppose to just make C drive run a bit more efficient?

OK this time my Disk Cleanup doesn't seem to work anymore. When I click on it, it runs but then after a few seconds it stops loading. Everything is still running but I don't think it's searching for any files anymore. I wait for a few minutes but it just won't start loading again. Before the light would continuously blink but now it just stops. Any ideas?

All right....I'm running on a Windows 2000, Service Pack 3 and this is the disk cleanup when you right click on C drive and go to properties.

There's a part in the game when your in Cosmo Canyon and you have to listen to the old man's story in his observatory. When he starts talking it goes then when the white text come out it just stays there but the game is still running. Only Cloud is able to move and I'm just stuck in the room and no one else is moving. I wait and wait but the man doesn't keep going. In the walkthroughs I've read it just says that there is like a FMV sequence. So now I'm just stuck right there so I don't know what to do. Anyone got any ideas?

Another question.....when I check to see if I need to defragement it tells me that I SHOULD defrage. So I do. The next day I check again it says you SHOULD defrage your hard drive. So what do I do there?

Hey I got McAfee Virus Scan 6 but when I said to download updates I decided to stop because it was taking too long. So now everytime I log onto the net the little icon comes up where the time is shown and it's saying it's downloading the DAT file for McAfee. How do I turn it off because it's slowing down my internet connection and I have a 56k modem. I already went to configure update and I said manuel update but it's still downloading.

My CD-ROM drive seems kind of messed up. It just won't open. I press the button to eject but it won't open. Then I restart it and it opens. Then the next day again it won't open. I restart the computer and it still won't open. So now I'm stuck with a closed CD-Rom drive. Is it because it's kinda hot so it won't open or something cause I don't know whats wrong.

Yea I'm running 1.02 where you gotta apply the patch to make the Choboco Race work and I raced so that works. That may have affected the video clip.

Now that I think of it I think it's actually the patch that I applied to make the Choboco Race work. I also tried all the resolutions in the config but that didn't work so I plan to reinstall and try again. But do you think its the patch?

One more thing it just happens anytime but I think it happens when there is no CD in the driver. Cause after I finish playing a game on CD I take it out then I close it. Then I feel like playing something else but it didn't open so yea.

No this is just a normal CD-ROM reader only nothing else. But for some reason sometimes it opens and sometimes it doesn't know why?
