  1. Start winrar. File -> open. File type, all files and select the file.

    EDIT:

You probably wanna know what i'm up to. I'm downloading the file myself and then we're both gonna make a multivolume archive of the file. Then we're gonna compare the checksums of the volumes and hopefully find the part where the error lies.

  2. I doubt that it's possible, but you could try something if the server you downloaded from resumes a download.

If the file you downloaded is a compressed one you can try to extract at least a part of files with a program like winrar. The amount of files you can extract gives you the idea where the error is.

BTW if there is a school library an internet cafe or maybe a good friend that has a faster internet connection and a CD burner I'd recommend downloading there.

wow thx for the info, that helpd alot, i did the math(poorly) and i think tha its definetly taking up to 80/85% of the ps capacity, and i believ thats not good : ), i instaled the card and didnt esperienced any problems so far, but just in case ive ordered a 500w ps,
just one more supernoob question, theres no way the cooler of the card stop rigth? because of power shortage? and theres any way i can see the heating of the card, i know that the 9600xt came with a diod to measure that, but how to use it?btw, im using the CATS 3.8 that came together with the card

I ran my computers past the 110% and they were stable.

Power shortage will crash your system, but I doubt that your gpu fan will stop 'cos of that.

    Download the latest 3.10 CATS.

  4. If you want to be sure calculate the wattage your components need. If it's more than your psu then you know you're living on the edege wink

Except for the graphics theese aren't any hardcore components you're running. If you had an athlon XP system or a P4 3.2EE you would see almost certanly see issues.

Search the previous posts for psu power...

Do the math and deicide for yourself.

  5. at boot the computer lists installed devices. Try to press pause at that screen. It should list your audio card if it's plug and play. Put the numbers into google it might find something. I just tested it and if you cant catch it with pause try to put a unbootable floppy in your floopy drive and set the comp to boot from it. Then it will pause with an error e.g. non bootable disk error press any key...

    PCI device listing ...

VENDOR ID DEVICE ID DEVICE CLASS

    1106 0571 IDE CONTROLLER

    10B7 9055 NETWORK ...

    10DE 0111 DISPLAY

    Then go here http://inf33-www.informatik.unibw-muenchen.de/infothek/computer/tutorial/eprmhtml/eprmx/12529.htm

There are more lists like this if you put ("vendor ID" list) into google.

From that you can see that

    1106 is VIA Technologies

    10B7 is 3com

    10DE is nVidia

Those are chips manufacturers not the actual manufacturers, but you can try and get a generic driver.

BTW this won't work with old isa cards & first check if it's not an onboard audio.

If this doesn't yield any results try a program like sisoft sandra under AGP PCI card busses information you might find what.

Post back if you need more help.

  6. I use to do this for my old PII and some PSU fans. If you can remove the fan on the oposite side of the fan is a sticker if you remove this sticker you should see the axle of the fan. Put a drop of lubricant there the best are teflon based ones. Whatch that you don't get any lubricant on the sticker, cos it won't hold afterward. Put the sticker back on spin the fan with your hand and try it on the card. If it still doesn't spin you better get a new one.

  7. It depends waht you want to do with the captured files. Uncompressed capcures will create huge files, but if you want to convert them to divx or xvid it's the best option. I personaly directly use xvid codec (the best picture with the lowest file size IMHO).

BTW if you use very high resolutions uncompressed data stream will be higher than what your hdd can handle.

  8. Maybe it's just me or maybe I should read the help file, but then again I never read help files.

When the search is complete how do I delete one record only. And how do I select one or more records to delete. If press delete it wants to delete everything? Is this an error or am I stupid. (probably the second) laugh

Oh btw the text in the name bar (the bar with the red x in windows xp) blinks very fast when searching the registry wich doesn't look very nice.

The event log is full of entries APK.... Why is that?

Apart from that it's a cool util and I'm gonna test it some more. It really find something in my reg smile
