  1. well the cd-rom, and the cd-rw are fine. What is happening is that the cd-rom cannot read the type of cd that has been written. Many of the older cd-rom, and some of the cheap new cd-rom have problems reading cd-r/w

If you are writing to a cd-rw disc than it could be the software that is writing the files. Like directCD files are hard to read by other cd-roms unless you specifically close the cd and tell it to allow it to be read by any cd-rom.

do you have the same problem when writing to closed cd-r 's?? if yes, I am stumped too, if no, it is not the burner you are problems with it could be the software or the other cd-roms try reading the cd-rw on another burner, if it cant read the files, it is the software.....BTW what software are you using?

  2. I had the same problem, I dont know what caused it. But I had to re-install windows (another reason) and it didn't return.

B4 the problem came about when I used the "built in" software or Nero 5.1. It didn't come up when I used ez cd creator 5 plat (with updates) or with nero 5.5.

I beleive it maybe have been the aspi layer that I had to install.

  3. I am running an epox 8kha+ with an athlone t-bird 1.2 @ 1.36 (8.5 x 160) My computer keeps losing system files (win32/system.cfg and recently hal.dll) what could be causing this?

could it be bad IDE drivers, or corrupt RAM? any other suggestions?

It is a brand new West. Digital HD, 30 gig, brand new cos I had it replaced cos I first thought it was the drive.

    thx for any help

My money will go to the first one that will support Divx decoding Looks like the XBOX could be it. It's just a matter of time

Actually technically that would be the PS2. The reason for this is that LINUX is out (or will be shortly) for the PS2, and you can watch divx movies under linux
