OK Guys, what do you recommend us voodoo chumps to buy instead ? Someone suggested Geforce MX 's but we might as well buy something good ! I know the GeForce3 is good but is it worth the money over say a cheaper GeForce 2 Ultra or what ? Opinions ?

I tried this but all it did was turn my computer from 1152x864 pixels, 32 bit colour @ 100Hz to 640x480, 8)4 8) bit colour and it looked very bad. So I rolled back the drivers (thank you XP) and it works again. But all I can use is Direct3D (which works but I was sorta used to OpenGL) - did I do something wrong ? I installed the omegadrive drivers using the install program and rebooted and got the mess that i have explained above - is there something that i am too stupid to have done after that ? PLEEEASE help !

Agreed it is a very good program - BUT - how did you (AlecStaar) get it to play DVD's - I had to install PowerDVD as it complained it needed a third party decoder - how did you do this or did you install PowerDVD as well ? Does anyone know how to get either .mp3 ripping or DVD playback in Media Player 8 easily from a clean install ?

Urm, the only thing that stops me from giving up on the Voodoo5 is that i have a working set of drivers for the Voodoo3 under XP final with Glide/OpenGL/Direct3D support already. All I am hoping is that some clever person thinks up a way of doing the same for my Voodoo5. Anyone have anything constructive to say ?

Nah that works as well as a kick in the arse. It's a driver from a beta/rc build of XP. XP dont even want to know about it. Also its for a voodoo3 - which i suspect might work in practice but we'll see. Any other suggestions ?

yup, your copy is corrupted - i had the same problem. you need that file "controls.man" - it's not a prob with the computer, just your CD

What's the latest BIOS version number and where can I get it from ? Oh and while I remember - when you installed it how exactly did you go about it - did you install 3dfx Tools and replace the driver files ? Please tell me cos I did try and then NOTHING worked - not even Direct3D !

Is there a way to automatically log you out or lock the computer after a set period of time as I always wander off when I am using my computer. As I am now running XP, I thought there might be a way to make it go to the change user screen after say 10 mins of inactivity ? Any ideas ?

I've had no probs with IE5 or 6 and I much prefer 6 as if you dont install Java Virtual Machine then most adverts go away. No problems with speed and I'm only running an Athlon 500 Try a clean install or something. Then only put on apps that you need.

working in 45k ? What's that meant to mean ? Do you mean it is working AT 45k/s ? Be more clear please It might just be your connection if that's what you mean, or the wires etc. What modem have you got anyways ?

Tried it on two different computers: Athlon 500, Promise100 RAID, Gigabyte 7IX MB, Pioneer 16xDVD 3DFX Voodoo 5 - 5500, 256 bm ram, SBLIVE Platinum5.1 & Athlon TB 1200, Gigabyte 7DX, Panasonic 4xDVD, 3dfx Voodoo3 3000, 256 RAM and get the same error.........voodoo u think ? One of my friends at uni says his worked first time Might try the 3dfx hack thing suggested under the compatibility list in ntcompatible ! I'll post if it works or not !
