    IE6 for XP full version?

I'm not sure if there are any... However, I have a IE6 full already downloaded, but I tihnk its for Win2k. I was going to offer to upload it to you but now that i think about it I do not think it will work. You should just DL the setup file, and then have it save all the setup files to your HD.

    Nero settings

I am using default settings on my Nero as well. Have no problems. However I do find that some particular CDs will fail to write. Especially the CompUSA CDs cause real problems. Maybe trying a different brand of CD might help too. Can you post the exact error message that nero gives you? Also, have you tried any other CD-Writing progs?

    Wierd Video Problem

They could be DivX movies. Also, are you using the new Windows Media Player? Sometimes I find that it will not play them, and that the old Media player works. It's kind of weird but the old one works better sometimes. Also if you don't have DivX, you should/need to go download it. I tihnk you can get it at download.com and just search for DivX. Good Luck.
  4. Hi there, I got an ATi TV Wonder VE card. And when I try to open the TV program and watch TV, the TV is all garbled up. Horizontal lines at about a 5 degree tilt, going down to the left. All the color and stuff is all mixed up in it. I'd take a pic but I cant do a screen capture (all that shows is a black screen for the TV) or use my video camera to input video into my computer to take a pic (composite is scrambled too). I don't have a digicam... I installed the latest version of ATi Multimedia Player program thing from their site (not the beta). And that didn't help either. When I had my 2 monitor setup, with a Voodoo3, it worked fine on both screens. But now that I am down to one monitor, it does not work! I had to put my second monitor back on another machine. Here is my sys specs if maybe someone thigs thats the problem. But remember, it was working earlier when I had my V3 setup too, so I think the problem is with ATi. PowerMan 300 Watt PSU Epox EP-8KTA3 with latest Via Chipset drivers installed. AMD Duron 800MHz processor (not overclocked currently) 512MB PC-133 SDRAM WD 40GB 7200 RPM GeForce 2 MX w/32MB RAM Sound Blaster Audigy D-Link DFE-530+ TX ATi TV Wonder VE Well I don't know what the prob is. I think it's ATi's drivers and they just may have not worked out all the quarks with WinXP. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks!

ATi TV Wonder VE, TV is all garbled!!! Help please!

Hello again, Well I got the ATi V7.6 file and installed it. The first time I opend TV it was still scrambled and messed up. But after I closed it and opened it again it worked fine. From then on after I closed it, and opened it later, it worked fine. So I think that fixes it somewhat well. And I have been trying a few third party programs. And that PowerVCR program works alright. I just don't like it very much but it does work. Anyway that's just an update. So it's working now! Thanks! Cheers

    Computer wont restart!

Very frustrating, but for some reason when I go to start and shutdown, and try to restart, or shut down, it doesn't do anything. Just a few apps quit and then it sits there... I can continue working and everything. I have tried quiiting all the programs running before I shutdown and that didn't work either. I don't know exactly what is what... wondering if anyone here has any idea as to what is going on. Let me know if anyone has any ideas. Thanks PS: I can put my sys specs up or programs I have running if you'd like.

    Computer wont restart!

Hello again, Sorry it took me so long to get back. Anyway the program is "NETAPI" as shown in the task manager. Sounds like a Windows prog. What does it do? And what should I do? Thanks!
  10. I have a client at a small office that I am working for as network administrator that needs to share their calendar among others in the office. They use Microsoft Outlook XP. Is it possible to do this? And how is it done? I need to get the file that is associated with the Outlook Calendar and place it on the server here. Can this be done? I'd appreciate any helpful assistance. Thank you very much.

Outlook Calendar - Share on network drive?

Well actually that might work, I don't think anyone would need to access it simultaneously. How exactly do you extract the calendar part to its' own file? How much would an Exchange server cost about? Thank you for your response. I find it extremely helpful.
  12. Is there a way to add the seconds to the clock? Just curious, I'd like that. Thanks
  13. How do I turn off the stupid, annoying pop-up messages on the XP taskbar, such as the take a tour, or low disk space, etc... They are exceptionally annoying. Thanks

XP Pop-ups on taskbar, turning them off

Well that is not very helpful, everyone can ignore it. I'm sure there is a way to eliminate them. Perhaps I will take some time to look. Thank you.

Swith LED still on without WOL?

I just noticed an extra light on on my switch. Oberving the cable, lead to my friends computer. NOT TURNED ON! I checked! And the LED was still on on the switch. But I did not install the WOL cable from the NIC to the MB. How/Why is it doing this?
  17. Hi there, I am working for a small company and am going to propose a plan to install a wireless network. Let me give you a little info about what we might need. I have about a max of $5000 to spend, $1600 of which is reserved for the Server that I will build. I'd also like to leave room for an OS, thinking Win2k Server. Which will probably cost about $1000. So I probably have about a max of $2300 to spend on the network, but I'd like to keep it as low as possible, for obvious reasons. Ok the building is about 150X125 meters (~492X~410 feet) (quick estimate). It is two stories. A majority of the computers (I'd say 20-30 computers in this place) are upstairs, but there are some downstairs. There are probaby about 6 computers on the first floor, 5 all within 30 meters of each other in separate rooms, one on the other side of the building. The upstairs consists of computers in offices in an L shape, part of the L goes over the first floor, where the majorty of those computers are. So is what I need to find out, is if this can be done first, how many WAP's (Wireless access points) I will need. I'd like to set one downstairs in the middle where the majorty of the computers are. And then upstairs, on at the beginning of the L shaped area, over the computers below, a WAP there, one at the corner of the L, and one at the other end. At the end here, the computer downstairs should be able to get to this WAP upstairs. So with the little I know about wireless lans, I think maybe this can be down with 4 WAPs. But can they all work together? And can everyone in their offices, using wireless NICs, be able to connect to the server downstairs, which will be conected to a WAP via a 100MBPS wired connection. Downstairs will have a high speed DSL 1MBPS up / 1MBPS down, and the server, with a router connecting to the DSL, which connects to a WAP downstairs, which connects to the server, and wireless to the other 3 WAPs upstairs. So do you think this will work? I am going to attempt to get skimatics on the building and perhaps map out a diagram of what can be done. This building is quite old, and has relativly thin walls (14 cm. or so (4 inches)), so wiring it with cat5 cable is not really an practicle option, and would probably cost more anyway to do it. Right now they have NO network what so ever. The only network is a telephone network, which each person is using a 56K AOL connection!!! Each paying for it! So that is a mess right there and I want to get rid of that. So is this plan practicle? Can it be done? About how much do you think it might cost? What equipment should I look at buying? Please let me know what you think and what you suggest. Thank you very, very much. PS, right now they are paying me $15 an hour, just to come in and help out getting their computers running better, which is fine with me. But I want to propose this plan to them, and I have talked to the boss about it and she seems to want to go for it, but I need help setting it up. Also, should I charge to install this network and server and everything? How much? Thanks in advance.

Need to build a wireless network for an office

Hi. Well I don't think homePNA would work to well, their phone lines don't work well and go down some times. So I think that won't work. And I think wireless can be secure, on most of these devices can't you only allow computers on by their MAC address? That would solve the security issue would it not? Anyway I don't think people would be attempting to hack this network, there is no mission criticle data being transfered. Thanks for the responses, keep'em coming. Thanks
  19. Hi. I want to take the hibernation file off the C Drive and have it placed on my D Drive. How can I do that? I know you can change where Windows XP puts the paging file, but I can find no option for moving the hibernation file. Oh and does anyone know how to turn off that damn "easy sharing" option, I want the advanced, Win2k version back. Thx!
  20. you know in WinXP when the screen saver goes on, you have a few seconds to move the mouse, after that the computer will lock (if you have that set), but if you move the mouse right after it goes on it does not lock... well how can you take that time down or to nothing? I am thinking I can alter it in a registry setting... or something? The reason I ask, is related to my previous thread, I now have a little prog called Nitrous Voice Flux, I can say a command and the computer can execute a file, or run a script. I have set a command to "lock computer", when I say "lock computer", it runs scrnsave.scr in .../system32/. For some reason it does not lock my computer. I do have the option to prompt for pass after the screensaver goes off. So why isn't it working? Does it not lock if you force the screensaver on? Well how can I get it to lock INSTANTLY. So that when I say "lock computer", it runs the screensaver, and is locked. So if a friend wants to screw around on my comp and I dont want them to I just say "lock computer" and it is locked, nothing they can do. This is basically what I wanna do. And I know it can be done so if anyone can help please do. one other thing? is there a way I can maybe write a small batch file to lock my computer, just the lock computer command when you press ctrl, alt, del? If so maybe I can just do that... or is there a way i can make batch file to type the keys ctrl, alt, and del and then press enter to lock it? There has to be something... anyway, thanks in advance...

how do I take off screen saver lock delay?

Got home. Made a batch file with that in it. And set it up on my voice recognition prog, and it works! Awesome. Thank you very much OLEerror.

how do I take off screen saver lock delay?

Why thank you very much. So all I do is put this in a bat file, have the voice flux program run that file when I give the command, and it will lock... Correct? The reason I ask is I am not at my computer right now. Thank you very much for a legitimate reply. (although I did find that humorous Klark)

how do I take off screen saver lock delay?

Haha yes very ammusing. Yet I am completely aware of the (Win)+L command to lock my system, and have been using it for quite some time. However, I would like this command to have the ability to be voice activated. Thanks for the humor though, a very subtle approach on the topic I'm sure others would agree. Oh... thanks for the info, got the toilet paper thing squared away now.

    voice-activated WinXP sys lock-up

Anyone got anything (or know of) to activate the lock in WinXP (basically, the Win button + L) by voice activation. I have friends that seem to want to mess with my comp when I am doing something, and it'd be really cool to just say something like "computer lock" outloud and have the system lock it self. I don't care about unlocking it with voice recognition, but if anything has that too that'd be awesome. Thanks!

    Password recovery on Win2k Server?

Is there any sort of password recovery or anything on Win2k Server? I changed my password on my admin account about a week ago. And I am sure I remember it, but it is not working. What can I do? Thanks.
