  1. Hmm..i`m running out of ideas smirk

    Tried something like:

    Code:
    1. Extractnfshighstakes.exe using Winzip to a temporary directory (Knownfrom now on as "nfshsdir" directory).2. Run Setup.exe3. When you get the error message "This game only runs onWindows 95 or 98" copy the files in the directory"_ISTMP1.DIR" which is located in x:\Documents andSettings\User Name\Local Settings\Temp\ (where "x" isyour Win2000 boot drive/partition and User Name is your username) to the nfshsdir directory. Also copy the files in thedirectory "_ISTMP0.DIR" which is located in the"_ISTMP1.DIR" directory to the nfshsdir directory.4. Click OK to quit the error message.5. In the nfshsdir directory rename _INS5576._MP to _INS5576.EXE6. Copy ImageCFG.exe and SetWin95.cmd from the NT4.0/NT5b2/Win2000b3RC1 CD to the nfshsdir directory.7. Go to a command prompt, CD to the temporary directory. TypeSetWin95 _INS5576.EXE <ENTER>.8. Run _INS5576.EXE from the nfshsdir directory.9. Ignore the error message "Can not run Unicode version ofATL.DLL on Windows 95. Please install the correct version.10. Congratulations, you have just installed the Need for Speed4 Demo in Windows 2000.

Its the one from this site

  2. Thanks mate,

If it helps you are my hero till X-mass wink

I see that during startup the following application is started: ADGJDet.exe

Will disabling it cause any sideeffects beside getting rid of the startup-tune-from-hell ?

If so any alternative would be great..like the name/location of the evil sound so I can alter it.

    Many thanks anyway

  3. Hi there,

    I have a anoying issue.

I disabled the startup sound so I won`t have to listen to the anoying tune at startup but still I get one.

I guess that this may be caused by the Audigy software but I have no idea where/how to disable it.

Any help is greatly appreciated ofcourse wink

  4. I installed all basic parts (I can manage my card as it should as far as I can see)

only glitch so far is that while playing mp3`s AND meanwhile selecting new ones, winamp simply dissapears as if I closed it manually...weird

  5. Yeah smile

How comes they (who are they btw) believe that they are able to get these drivers working while so many others are having a hard time trying to do the same?

It would be great of course but I`m a bit sceptical wink

  6. I partly agree,..

I am not saying all this because I am so sad 3dfx is dead and nvidia sucks blabla but because I feel this is not the way to treat consumers..you can not expect all consumers to be up to date to the current economical state of the company they are buying their product from.

What I still believe is that 3dfx should have had a bit more responsebility towards their client in letting them know that their product was likely not to be supported in the future and true, nvidia can not be held responsible for that but because of that I would have prefered that one way or another, the support was forced in the -take over- (cant find a better english word)

If only 2 guys were maintaining the drivers..

It is not fair to say that if someone who feels he/she is not getting what she/he deserves and request additional support or simply disagrees and wants to be heard is therefore a whiner, think a bit broader then that please. Else we all will disregard eachothers opinion in no time and have a nice little fight at hand wink

It was probably inevitable that 3dfx was going down but a bit more concideration for especially the new 3dfx card owners would have been in place.

And yes, I too felt mostly the same way with Aureal.

Until Unreal2 is released I can live with my current card anyway..

    Love and glee
