Actually true. I overlooked the fact they like their 110V's like brits like their right hand drive But theory is not always correct. So i will withdraw my previous comment. Since I haven't plugged anything bigger than a Notebook or a phone charger in the US

Sigh. Where the frell are the SATA benchmarks?

Yo need a bloody large heatsink and extra fans in the case with 15K SCSI's they do heat seriously. Try to run a DB with couple of thousand users... Although not sure. SCSI drives are bigger then IDE's so might have more plates etc.

Windows XP FIX, IS IT TRUE

It does not sound logical since WinXP does not upgrade from dos!!! it formats the drive as far as i know. Also how can you install dos on a P3, 4 or an athlon XP with 256MB+??? Well I don't care anyway so forget it!

    M$ users.......read on

I personally don't have a problem about compatibility or the size of the MS Os's My problem is the price but we have been over that so i am just going to spare us the trouble. But my question is why are both parties getting so hostile when it comes to a win-lin discussion or intel-amd discussion. I just don't understand it... Where is all this rage from man!

    Stupidest Customer/Person You Know (Computers)

    K. Top this off about stupidity guys. We have a phone call requesting a replacement computer becuse the coffee holder broke. After the initial shock we discovered we have been installing an extra to our computers for free of charge a coffeee tray. She was referring to a CD-ROM as you can guess. Coffee also spilled inside when it broke off. Also we have a new member AZE in the board which was complaining Intel AGP drivers not installing. He had a GeForce4! http://www.ntcompatible.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21793

    HP 5.25" Drive Problem

Check none of your CD drives are set to CS (Cable Select) Set your reader to MA (Master) and your recorder to SL (Slave in your jumper settings. Connect IDE cable from your CD's to your secobdary IDE port on your drive (It will next to your primary HDD cable). Go to your bios and set it to auto detect secondary master and slave devices. BTW when plugging the IDE cables to your CD's. make sure red stripe looks at the power connector... And it looks the same way your primary IDE cable looks on your MOBO which is Pin 1 in other saying.
  16. IAA is good and improves your performance it is a must for any system however. Due to my experience follow the following rules: 1.Always install it on a fresh install where there is no data to be lost, and after the chipset information thingy. 2. never under any circumstance try to replace or update it with a newer version just cause it is available. You will be introduced to Boot device cannot be mounted error msg along with a BSOD. 3.Only way to fix point 2 is if you have a multi boot system or can access your HDD on a seperate system as a secondery HD. You extract the new IAA files, find them in your drive under system32 and other places and just overwrite them. 4. I repeat again for those does not understand, on a fresh install only, no up[censored]. I have not seen a single succesful update under W2k or WXP. BTW, the day intel makes drivers for VIA systems i will walk around in a gorilla costume.

    electrical power

I would seperate them 3 by 3. So you will have expansion for another PC for each circuit. If you have a 5KVA or above UPS don't worry it will take care of everything and a 20A breaker is more than enough for that UPS

New SB Live! drivers and DRM

I will just use the old drivers for the moment and avoid SB live if they insist on this nonsense...

    Intel's AGP driver

Ron_Jeremy you are correct. Intel's AGP driver is for intel onboard graphic chips only!!! like I815, I810, I845 etc. And most boards will not let you use onboard and add-on cards together so Aze, yours is a lost and meaningless cause. You have to get Nvidia detonator drivers for your OS from http://www.nvidia.com I suggest you stop trying to install them or you will mess up your W2k install. If you are seeing unknown devices on your device manager. You have not installed Intel Chipset identification. But be careful, it should be installed after a clean W2k Setup or any OS setup since it can cause problems on a already setup running system like application accelerator.

    New to Win2k

Just skin her desktop for W98... I remember seeing some desktop themes and icons for that. and she won't know the difference. Reading, point and click is same in all. If you used win3.1 you can use the rest unlesss you are really retarded Edit: I forgot, you have to tech them how to terminate a process in case it crashes, how to log-in, log out and how to lock the terminal. It hink you can create such a paper in about 30 min's max. That is all

    Free ASP.NET Editor from MS

    Necessary or Just a War?

My upgrade cycle for CPU's is 3 or 4 models back and that's it. I buy the latest and the best board and as much memory as it can handle. The best type of course. (In my opinion it is Micron) My Mobo's are always Asus or Gigabyte, i prefer the asus, and intel chipset. Storage I upgrade (actually add) 2 latest drives every 12 months or so. And graphics cards i don't give much of a $hit about them. That is the way i do it.

    stability and reliability

Quote: *clears throat* Mmmmhmmmm. [rant] Any BSOD's that you received under NT4/2K and did not receive under XP were caused by driver problems not a "superior OS". [/rant] [rant] Crappy hardware (such as the SB Live!) does not a stable system make. This is not the OS's fault no matter how much you wish to blame it as such. [/rant] [rant] By the very fact of being around longer. Being developed for longer and being marketed for a specific market, it is foolish to declare Windows XP as more Stable/Less buggy than Windows 2000. Windows XP Pro is obviously simply the uncrippled Home version and the Home version is the crippled Pro version. Which means that the Pro version is not as "Pro" as 2000 Pro. This is a fact. This is not debatable. Yes, get over it. Windows 2000 Pro is currently and will likely forever be more "Pro" than XP Pro. YES. IT IS. [/rant] I dig your style. If possible i would write the msg above on the moon so everybody can read it.

    NTFS Performance

All that discussion in one day only... Gee, i am glad we are not face to face sometimes since we can't get anything done (workwise) apart from arguing. Clutch already explained the reasons and all. All i am going to say/ ask is When are people are going to believe in benchmarks??? Fat32 might be faster so what? How fast? 10%? 20%? we are talking about ms'nds here so even a hundred procent is not going to mean jack. Security and reliability negates any real or imaginary advantage of Fat32. And if you are using computers as servers, mainframes etc instead of games you really don't have an alternative to NTFS in my opinion.
  25. Quote: haha, yea...I start my computer up one day (running 250W supply on a processor recommended 300W)...the damn thing blew finally, I was talking on the phone, all of a sudden, BOOMMMMMMMMMMMM. I'm like "WTF?!?!?!"...my cousin is like "WTF?!?!?!", I ended up spending more than I should had for a 300W supply. I had the same today without the pieces but loads of smoke and charring on the case... Took half of a fire extinguisher. I had no idea it was this hard to find a working replacement MOBO for a slot CPU.... Mine wasn't caused by overload though.
