  1. I got excactly the same probs as "DavidJonesIGI" on my comp.

It's the 7.58 that are whql. They are fast in opengl but suck in d3d. i prefer the 10.80's (thety seem the fastest for d3d on my computer).

    P3 800 EB

    Abit be6-2

    256 mb ram pc133

    hercules geforce ddr

    sblive value

    winme/win2k prof dualboot

  2. I never got ics working on my network (i got 2 win2k machines linked together, one with pppoe dsl connection).

i've been running sygate home network for a few months now and i love it. You should give it a try if you really can't figure out windows ics.

Btw, netbeui is not required to run a network. i never use it, only tcp/ip should be installed on both machines.

One important thing, you really want to have win2k as a server, i ran into a lot of probs when i used win98 as a host (windows randomly crashed, wouldn't shut down,...)

  3. I agree with wiyot. I tried to run a 133fsb P3 800 on my abit be6-2 but the agp and pci busses get pretty high at that fsb. I had a lot of probs (agp= 2/3 * 133 and pci 1/4 * 133 which is both too high, but are the only settings on this mobo) + the memory always runs at the same speed as the cpu bus on this card, no way to put it at 100 MHz.

So a P3 with a 100 Mhz bus is the way to go and you will be able to overclock this baby >< P3 at 133 almost not overclockable cuz of the ram and agp/pci bus.

  4. Hi rmeek and Ekstreme, the fix you need is called F4DX. You can get it at following addess. Don't worry, the site is french, just look for F4DX and you're all set.

Falcon 4 works great with it, no more crashes to the desktop after missions!!! Enjoy.

Ohw another thing, for the voodoo error: delete the file "GR3DFX.MPR" in your main falcon dir and the error will be gone.

  5. Here's the situation:

I'm running win2k professional with sygate home network on the server pc to share my pppoe dsl connection. On the client pc i have a win98/win2k dual boot. I don't use dhcp, i gave both computers their own ip, configured the gateway and dns server the right way.

In win98 the internet connection works fine.

But in win2k after the boot, when i try to run IE it says it cannot find the internet connection, it gives me 2 options: "try again" and "work offline". When i click try again internet works fine.

Why can't IE find internet the first time but the first time it works fine?

Another thing, other programs (icq, msn messenger,...) find the connection right the first time, just IE that doesn't work right.

Can anyone help me with this?

When i install IE6 beta i don't get that message anymore, really weird.

  6. I'm afraid creative is too lazy to make win2k drivers fot the sb128 (ct4700). i had to throw it out of my comp and replace it by de guillemot fortissimo (which is pretty cheap), which works great in wink2 out of the box (the default win2k drivers are great).

  7. I've been having the same error with my abit be6-2 (also highpoint controller). I read somewhere the highpoint drivers for win2k are the cause, they are crap. The only solution to use your drive in win2k is to disable the highpoint controller and put the drive on udma66 frown

  8. Jsut after win2k has booted i try to click on the IE icon, IE gives me a message: cannot find internet connection, try again, work offline. When i click "try again" internet works fine. I tried it with IE2 (that is still present as i upgraded from NT4) and it connects fine from the first time (i know, the work offline crap is not implemented in IE2 so that should explain it). But other programs like icq, msn messenger and napster work fine too.

I got this message since i installed a UDMA 66 HD on the highpoint 366 controller of my abit be6-2. Is there a irq conflict with my NIC now?

    Anyone else experienced this?

Would it help if i installed Win2k with ACPI disabled?

    Thanks.

  9. Here's my problem. When I drag icons in win2k they are white transparent, so when i drag them over the white background of a window they are totally invisible. This only seems to occur in 32bits colour mode. In 16bits all is fine. And it happened since detonators 6.xx. The dets 5.xx don't show this problem.

Can this be fixed with some setting (registry or whatever) besides running it in 16bits?

    Thanks.
