    dvorak support in some games...

Ok I have made the switch to dvorak, and its great. For most applications it works, and gets my kb input from windows, but for some games, 2 in particular (Half Life and Madden 2k1) It just dont work, it seems to bypass windows and assume I have a qwerty keyboard! It sucks when someone I know on a cs server is talking to me and all I can say is ",aa;fr!" Anyone know anything I can do?

    Alternative Cooling Methods

Ok I wanted to get some viewpoints from those with experience. First of all I have 2 things I have done or will do for my sys. As of now I got my case open w/ a box fan and a sorta air filter for dust. What I want to do is use the outdoor winter air to cool my comp. First off- has anyone tried either of these? Second of all, does anyone have any other weird ways they cool their systems? Thx

    Alternative Cooling Methods

The moisture problem can be taken care of I believe by using a catch and maybe a dehumidifier, besides it cant be that different from the humidity inside, unless ofcourse ins raining.

    Is the PC Dead?

I think nothing is really dead, I think USB is gonna be allowing a great deal of flexibility to the pount that nearly everything could become USB, (even maybe mobos) so that any upgrade someone wants to make to any system wiil be fast and painless. so So in a sense PCs will become indistinguishable from consoles with USBs and so on. Another thing is, the PC is winning! Consoles and web appliances are being forced to be like pcs in upgradability via USB, while PCs are staying the same. GRR!! CD ROM DRIVE LOCKS UP!!

Occasionally, only in Win2k, my cdrom drive just freezes the computer, while my computer is reading from it, the computer just freezes, and the only way to restart it is to unplug it physically. My computer doesnt respond to anything, including numlock/capslock. I have the latest BIOS update, and the latest drivers for everything. Any ideas?

GRR!! CD ROM DRIVE LOCKS UP!!

its actually a DVD-ROM, Toshiba - SD-M1212. Toshiba tells me to upgrade my bios which I did. I'm not sure if its a hardware problem or a software problem... I just dunno.

    Eternal quesiton: UT or Q3

as engines go: I hate the unreal engine, its preferance of glide, and only glide, its lack of portability essentially ruined Deus Ex as a graphical experience for me, while Quake is very platform independant and supports a full range of api's open gl, glide, direct 3d... The thief engine was also fairly decent. gamewise: I'd say there about even here. UT came with many more features, and lots of customization, but Quake is a definate must for raw deathmatch, and is sorta the standard. I just wish it came with team stuff.

GRR!! CD ROM DRIVE LOCKS UP!!

Hmm... this was happening earlier, after I clean installed win2k, It worked fine in NT4. It stopped freezing up around after I got SP1 for win 2k, so I figured that probably fixed it. I recently had to reinstall win2k again after I got a new hard drive. During this installation I had to flash my bios, and recently during a cd intensive program, it just froze. I cant find anything on either microsoft or toshibas site. This happens w and w/o DMA on. I'll have to screw with it more, hopefully I wont have to buy a new cdrom.

    Win2k & Game Compatibility

Some EA games will run in Win2k. I have gotten Alpha Centauri/Alien Crossfire to run fine. But it is highly annoying when developers refuse superior operating systems ie nt, and moreso, unix/linux. In my opinion, if you want an equal and fair OS market you should open source directx, and allow it to be ported to unix/linux platforms, and get rid of the 9x line forever.

    PLEASE HELP!! EVERYONE

I'm wondering if perhaps there is a conflict between your 3 os's. Like one trying to get the others add/remove programs. Which drives do you have what installed? I believe 98 can only be installed to the C: drive, and it dont matter for 2000, but I'm not sure about Whistler at all. You might want to try and get rid of whistler and see if that fixes it. I wouldnt trust a pre-beta OS anyway...

    PLEASE HELP!! EVERYONE

Yo- could you provide some info: did you upgrade to windows 2000 or did you do a clean install? How did you go about installing your triple boot? Whats your sis config? Do you have all recent windows updates? Have you looked at microsoft tech support at all?

    ANSWER! Random Shutdowns

Lots of times this is due to an overheating hardware component. You might want to go in your bios and check your cpu fan speed, and see if they report any errors.
