    WinXP Networking..

Make sure the computer you are trying to access from is logged in as Guest. If not you should change it to Guest or you should create an account name on Windows XP to match the same account.

    Shutdown problem

Hmm...weird. I have Easy CD Creator 5 installed and I don't have the shutdown problem. May be a combination of Easy CD Creator 5 and whatever program you have installed on your computer? I used to have a shutdown problem too. Whenever I try to shutdown, my computer will restart instead. I don't know what caused it but I just reinstalled Windows XP.

New Mouseware 9.41 for XP and games

I assigned my wheel press as keyboard "Control" and it worked. there is a small problem. Whenever I press down the wheel button, I see this small box by lower right screen showing "Control" saying that I've pressed "Control" key. I was like "no ****" and it is kinda annoying. Also, another problem is that whenever I press down Wheel button, it kinda lags my computer and I have PIII-933 system. I am thinking that MouseWare program is hogging CPU time.

How to remove MSN Messenger (read here)

I think someone else here posted that if you delete the Messenger folder messenger crap will go away and I did that and it worked. Is it bad to do it that way?

    Mouse acceleration problems in CS

Lythium, try harlekin's and shag_man's suggestions. I use them both and my Counter-Strike's mouse control is about as good as Win2k's mouse control.

    Mouse acceleration problems in CS

yeah, right now I have Win2k installed and it is set at: low mouse acceleration and average (middle) speed. For some reason XP's mouse control is weird. Kinda feel like it is on high acceleration and I am having a hard time moving the mouse over small distance. I thought with Mouse precision option on, that would fix moving the small distance problem but it didn't help. I might go and install XP back on to see if your tip helps.

    GF3+Detonator 4 20.81 and Winxp final+Cs

It sounds like connection problem to me than your graphic card. If you are sharing your DSL connection with someone else then you will have ping flatuation when the other person is downloading a big file while you play.

    Mouse acceleration problems in CS

Hmmm...above tips seem too work better but it still doesn't feel the same as in Win2k. Right now, the only problem is moving small distance on the screen. I have "mouse precision.." mode on too.

I got it to work. I just played it earlier today. I just install it normally. Nothing else. I don't know why you are having a problem though.

    Mouse acceleration problems in CS

shag_man, just out of curousity, what does -noforcemparms do? I am wondering why I gotta but that in Windows XP and not on other OSes like Win2k and Win98. Especially since Win2k and Windows XP are based on NT engine.

    Slow browsing the Network Neighborhood

Is it just me or is XP a little bit slow browsing the computers in Network Neighborhood. Is there a way to speed up the process? Right now, when I click on "View Workgroup computers" in Network Neighborhood, it takes like 5-10 seconds to show the computers in my workgroup. In Windows 98 and Win2k this process is a little faster, especially in Windows 98. Then when I click on a computer in my workgroup, it takes awhile to see the folders shared on that computer too.

    some problems with xp

Ok, I fixed the problem ICQ startup problem. I renamed icq.exe file to icq_orig.exe. Then you update your icq shortcut to link it to icq_orig.exe. I don't think mine is the right way but it works for me.

    some problems with xp

Ok, the problem with ICQ starting up whenever you log into your account, I am having the same problem. I unchecked the box in ICQ's preference to tell the program that don't start ICQ with Windows startup but ICQ seems to do it anyways. Weird...I have Windows XP 2505 Eval copy.

    Mouse acceleration problems in CS

I have the same problem with nobleknight too. Well...playing on my brother's computer that is. His system has Windows XP and playing Counter-Strike on his computer is not that good. Mouse feels weird like nobleknight said. I like the mouse speed and acceleration setting in Win2k. I wonder why Microsoft didn't do the same with XP. Anyways, I followed what BLooDMaN said and removing SmoothMouse**curve thing from registry doesn't fix the problem.

    ASPI manager

I don't know where to get ASPI manager but the only way I know how to install ASPI manager is to install like Easy CD Creator 4. When you install Easy CD Creator 4, it will install ASPI Manager too. Then if you don't want to keep Easy CD Creator 4, just uninstall it. It won't uninstall ASPI manager though.

Patches and Blue Screen at bootup

Hehe...if I get the same blue screen again, I will try your method. I have tried something like that except I did Auto instead of Manual. This is so strange. I have been running Win2k ever since it got out and I have never experienced this kind of problem with my Intel system. My system seemed stable up to Win2k Service Pack 2. Patches like Code Red and other ones are giving me the problems. Well...those patches installed ok and my system runs fine after installing them but the problems started when I mess around with my system like installing Divx codecs or using a program that changes system registry.

Code Red patch + Divx Codec = bad?

Hello, I think there is a problem with Code Red patch. After I installed Code Red patch (both on my Win2k and my brother's Win2k) and then install Divx codec, Win2k give me blue screen at the startup every time and it repeats forever. It happened to me two days ago and now I am using Windows XP. Just an hour ago, I installed Divx codec after installing Code Red patch on my brother's system and now his computer is doing the same thing. Blue screen at the startup and Win2k never reached to the log-in screen. The computer reboots forever. Anyone else having this kind of problem??

    Internet Explorer 6 beta question...

Ya, I can't do on-line banking either. I also don't think IE 6.0 can be removed just like M4Carbine said. It is built into the OS. I will try downloading Java virtual machine.

Code Red patch + Divx Codec = bad?

Just wondering..did you install Divx codec after installing Code Red patch? I install Divx 3.11 alpha after I installed Code Red patch.

Am I the only 1 who thinks EA are ignorant sluts?

Yep. That's why I stoppped buying EA games. If they don't want to make their games to run on the OS I use then they are not getting my money.

    XP and Divx

Hello all. I just installed Windows XP Evaluation Copy Build 2505 to check out XP. So far everything is great. Actually, I like XP better than Win2k. I have a small problem. I can't view some Divx movies and I can view some Divx movies perfectly fine. The ones that I can't view, I could hear the sound in the movie but no video at all. But the sound itself isn't perfect. It was laggy. Anyone else having this kind of problem? BTW, I have Divx 3.11 Alpha installed. That codec work perfectly in Win2k for me.
