What do you guys thing about SoundBlaster Audigy card?

Yeah, I like to have Live Drive too but Platinum package cost too much. Do you guys have 5.1 speaker system connected to your Audigy card? I want to know if you are getting any sound out of your Center speaker when listening to .mp3s with WinAmp and stuff.

XP-What do you think of it now?

Personally, I like Win2k better for performance wise but WinXP is pretty much as good as Win2k. Plus, WinXP has better GUI and other good features like ability to hide programs that are run at the startup but you don't use often. Remote Desktop is another thing I like about WinXP.
  3. I was wondering if it is possbile to make WinXP shutdown my computer faster? Because right now it takes like 45 seconds to a minute to shutdown my computer. If I remembered correctly, when I had my WinXP installed fresh, it didn't take this long...may be like 15 seconds the most. Now it is taking a lot longer.

I don't know what it does but I don't think it is good. My guess is that it is accessing my root directory of the C drive?? I am using IIS 5.1 that came with WinXP Professional. Can someone explain to me what is going on from the log info above? Sorry, if this post is too long.

    am I getting h4xed??

Clutch, thx for the info. I am still learning about this security stuff. Too bad, in school they don't teach me any stuff like this...may be next semester they might teach me about network security in one of my MIS classes.

    am I getting h4xed??

Thank you all for replying. Fekalen, that is my server. 206.228.118.165 is my comp's IP and I am also running a web server on it just for messing around. I am just wondering because I thought I pretty much secured my computer. I have Zonealarm Pro firewall and all guest accounts are disabled and stuff... ---- Palos, I am using Microsoft IIS Log file format. There are only 3 available for me to choose from: Microsoft IIS Log file format, NCSA Common log file and W3C Extended Log file format. ---- Clutch, I don't think mine is patched up for Nimda. I ran Windows Update two days ago and I downloaded a lot of patch from Microsoft Windows UPdate site but I don't think that Windows Update patched up my computer for Nimda.

    Remote Desktop and ZoneAlarm Pro

Hi guys, I am having a problem trying to connect my computer through Remote Desktop because of ZoneAlarm Pro. I know it is ZoneAlarm Pro because I can connect fine with ZoneAlarm Pro off. When I have it on, I don't see log-in screen where it ask you for Username and Password. I only see blank white screen and a message box saying Server timed out or something like that. I searched Windows XP about ZoneAlarm Pro and Firewall and someone suggested putting mstsc.exe file in the Program settings list and I did that. I gave that file "Allow Server" and "Allow Connect" for both Local and Internet and I still have that log-in problem with Remote Desktop. Is there something else I should do?

    Remote Desktop and ZoneAlarm Pro

Yeah, TCP port#: 3389. I added that port to my ZoneAlarm Pro's open port list and my problem is fixed now. Thanks.

    Remote Desktop and ZoneAlarm Pro

Hmm...I gave mstsc.exe all the permissions in Zone Alarm and it is still not working. The same problem. But there is a way for me to add port to Zone Alarm. Is the 3389 UDP or TCP?

    Anyone heard of this virus??

I am trying to help my friend that got infected with this virus and I can't find any information about it. She got it through MSN Messenger from someone else on her list. Anyways, that person "send" her the file pic1234(1)(1)(1)(1)(5)(1).exe saying it is a pic. Then she opens it and it will try and send that same file to other people on her MSN Messenger list. She said she can't delete that file either. She got "acess denied" message. Then her printer started acting weird too like printing weird stuff. Anybody know anything about this virus?

    Anyone heard of this virus??

Thanks for the info. I found the exact name of the worm after searching internet again. Here is the information about the virus if anyone wants to know: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.annoying.worm.html or http://vil.nai.com/vil/virusSummary.asp?virus_k=99184 The first one is from Symantec and the second one is from McAfee. They both have different name for the same worm.

New Mouseware 9.41 for XP and games

Ok, I just installed Mouseware 9.41 from Logitech and it fixed my Counter-Strike mouse movement problem in Windows XP. I turned off Acceleration. Now, I got different problem. Mouseware is taking over my game controls!!! Grrr...like I programmed "Mouse 3" button when is when you press down mouse wheel to be a walk button. But that same button is programmed as Webwheel button in Mouseware. So whenever I press "Mouse 3" button, I see this web wheel crap and I get kicked back to Desktop. So my question is, is it possible for Mouseware to stop monitoring in games???

    Recommended Sound Card for XP

Hmm...I have been trying to figure out how to hook up my sound card to my Dolby Digital/DTS receiver too and I have Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 card. I searched through Creative web site and I found out this interesting tip. If you have Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 (regular not Platinum version), you can either buy Live! Drive IR (it has Optical in and out)for $149.99 or you can buy this Optical Digital I/O board II for $59.99. I got those prices from Creative Shop on-line. here is the link: http://www.americas.creative.com/products/category.asp?Category=30&MainCategory=10 if the above link doesn't take you to right link, look under Audio Accessories. Oh BTW, if you buy Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Platinum version I think it comes with Live! Drive IR. But then if I have to buy a sound card now, I would go with Audigy. I think you can get Sound Blaster Audigy Plantinum version for like $180. I don't know if Audigy is supported in Windows XP yet.
  22. I was wondering how do you get rid of that annoying Warning message (by the clock area) telling you everytime you log in that some device or serivce is incompatible with Windows XP so Windows disabled it. Is there a way to get rid of it? I got that message after installing Adaptec Easy CD creator 4. I think it must be that ASPI driver because after I uninstalled Easy CD creator 4, the message didn't go away.

How 2 get rid of diabled program warning?

You can copy DVD at 8x?!! I have been looking for a DVD recorder but the ones that I found are like only 1x. I was like screw that. I don't wait to wait a whole day to copy a DVD.
  24. whoisurdaddy

How 2 get rid of diabled program warning?

No, I installed the program itself. Even after I uninstalled it, the stupid message won't go away.

which gaming console do you think is better?

Yeah, X-Box and Game Cube haven't been released yet. I am thinking about getting X-box but not sure yet. From the specs X-box looks pretty good. But Playstations 2 got a lot of good games. I don't think I will consider Game Cube since Nintendo pretty much focus their games on kids so you won't find any fighting and shooting games to be released on Game Cube.
