  1. Which ones are the fastest for the DDR boards? Right now I'm using the 6.62 WHQL drivers which work ok, but I would like to overclock the board since I invested $12 in an Orb chipset cooler. Unfortunately the 6.66 drivers screw up the 1152x864 resolution which is what I use. Am I up a creek? Thanks, DMA
  2. Has anyone else ever had the problem when trying to update Geforce drivers (or any other boards) that at the end of the install it says "An error occured during the installation of the driver,""The system could not find the file specified," and then the driver works until you reboot? Also, the video card shows up in device manager with a yellow exclamation mark, and so does the monitor for that matter. Thanks, DMA

Problem with Win2k video driver install

Well, a reinstall of SP1 and an install of DX8a allowed me to finally update the drivers successfully. I tried using the newest Leadtek drivers that conincide with Nvidias 6.66 reference drivers, but they wouldn't allow me to use the 1152x864 mode so I went to the WHQL 6.62 drivers which work ok.

Problem with Win2k video driver install

Oops, except I realized that all my drives use FAT32 currently, therefore permissions is not the problem.

Ok, I'll give that a try and see what happens. I'll post my results. Thanks DMA

Problem with Win2k video driver install

True, it seems that it doesn't just apply to one driver type. I have the feeling that if I wanted to update any of the drivers I would have this issue. Should I make the jump to Whistler Beta 1, or should I just reinstall Win2k? Anyone?

    no d3d acceleration

Does anyone with this problem have Netmeeting Remote Desktop Sharing enabled? If so, turn it off! It is what is causing your issue. [This message has been edited by halen (edited 20 November 2000).]

    Win NT and USB devices??

The Iomega USB Zip drive does work under NT4, it basically installs a USB SCSI storage device driver, and it only works with the zip drive, but it does work.

Cannot install Win 2000 from WIn Me!

Try booting from the Win2000 CD or disks and doing a repair. When you setup the repair options, only repair the items describing startup or boot, don't compare files or mess with the registry restore options. This used to work for NT, and I don't see why it won't for 2000 as well. It should find your Win2000 installation and resetup the boot sector and boot menu to include it and Windows ME.
  10. Ok, I have no idea what happened to my machine. I recently updated the BIOS on my Abit BH6 1.0 to version SS and I also upgraded to the Nvidia 6.18 drivers and now when I go into DXdiag, it shows Direct3d and AGP support not available. OpenGL accelerated games seem to work fine, but UT in D3D mode only runs in a windows and won't go to fullscreen. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a fix? I tried going back to the 5.32 drivers, which worked before, but it didn't fixt the problem.
  11. Well, I figured out my problem, and it wasn't related to Nvidia or DirectX at all. It was Netmeeting Remote Desktop sharing. As soon as I turn it off and reboot, I get AGP, Directdraw and D3D reenabled in dxdiag. If I turn it back on, they go away on the next reboot. Would this be considered a feature?
  12. I'm not quite sure how Unreal could affect the dxdiag application...
  13. Its an Abit BH6 Rev. 1.0
  14. The bios update was necessary to support a newer CPU upgrade. I've tried altering the aperture settings to equal the size of my RAM, half my RAM and 1/4th my RAM. It's a BX board and I'm pretty sure that W2k has the newest drivers for that chipset. I've already reinstalled once to enable ACPI about 4 months ago, it won't hurt to do it again, I guess. Oh, and I did uninstall DX8 as well, but the problem remains.
  15. I've tried both of those things already, with no luck. I've removed the drivers via the control panel, rebooted into safe mode and deleted all oem*.inf and nv*.* files, and reinstalled the drivers. Is there something else I may be missing? I do have SP1 installed as well as build 140 of DirectX 8. I'd like to avoid blowing away Win2000 and reinstalling if possible.

Does anyone know if the FTP services included with IIS 5.0 and Windows 2000 supports upload resumes?

    Mmm Detonator 3!

Does it make any difference with TNT2Ultras in Win2000. I know the new drivers are actually slower in Win98SE, but no one has talked about 2000.

    LiveWare! Driver update for win2k.

I've been using Liveware2k with ACPI on an Abit BH6 1.0 and my Live shares an IRQ with my USB controller with no problems. 19. Ok, I've posted this problem all over the place on other forums and haven't gotten an answer yet. I'm using a CL 3D Blaster TNT2 ultra with the latest 5.30 ref. drivers from Nvidia. I've got 2 problems and they're probably related. 1.) Windows 2000 will not shut my monitor off, no matter what time I set it for in the Power control panel (It did work at one time)... 2.) In the Advanced section of the Settings tab in the Display control panel, I can no longer go to the Monitor tab and click the Properties button. It is grayed out. So I can't change the driver of my monitor at all. I've gone back to the OS drivers for my video card, I've tried all kinds of other versions, and no luck. If I reinstall the original Win2000 drivers for the video card and go in the monitor section right away, I can change it, and the monitor will turn off, but as soon as I change the resolution and reboot, it goes back to the way it was. I also have a CL Encore DVD kit with the 6x drive and DXR3 card. I'm using the recently released beta drivers for that. I have a SBLive Value with the Liveware2000 drivers for it. Any ideas as to fix this problem? Anyone? Thanks, Dave A.
  20. I found that if I don't install the drivers for NT4 as well, the video plays, but the sound is choppy and movies will lock as well. As soon as you install the drivers for NT4, you lose the monitor again. So, I did some work and I found exactly which driver is killing it. It is the enc2filt.sys driver, which is apparently not completely necessary for the Encore to funcion, since I disabled it in Win2k's device manager and now movies play smooth as silk, and my monitor remains. Hope someone from Creative reads this, I'll probably post something in their DVD newsgroup as well.
  21. I got it! It absolutely has to do with the beta Creative DXR3 drivers. I uninstalled the card from my device manager, used the "Show hidden devices" option in the device manager and removed all items beginning with enc2*, and deleted all files from the WINNT folder that started with enc2*, as well as the oem .inf file for their drivers. Then I removed the Encore DVD player using Add/Remove programs, rebooted, installed the Hollywood Plus drivers when Win2k detected the Multimedia device, rebooted, and then installed the NT4 player (still available on CL's website) and the Encore kit works fine, as well as I have my monitor driver back and it DOES go to sleep. I guess Creative still has some work to do.
  22. I'm pretty sure that the problem is related to a combination of the CL beta drivers for the DXR3 and nvidia drivers. Or maybe just the DXR3 drivers. However, is there a good way to go from the beta drivers back to the old Hollywood+/NT 4.0 hack?
  23. Ok, now I am starting to wonder if this problem doesn't have more to do with the beta DXR3 drivers for the Encore kit. Chris do you have the DVD decoder? If this is the case, then I'll probably go back to the old Hollywood Plus/NT 4.0 hack and be happy again. I never had ANY problems with that setup other than a few lame messages in event viewer but complete funcionality regardless. Does anyone know when the final release of those DXR3 drivers will be out?

    Removal

Can anyone list the proper steps for COMPLETELY removing either the Nvidia Reference drivers or Creative Labs drivers for the TNT/TNT2/Geforce...etc? Thanks
  25. There's a knowlegebase article at support.microsoft.com that talks about how to do this. Its called "Moving Windows 2000 to new hardware or something like that." Most people get the dreaded Boot Device Inaccessible message when they try to just let Windows 2000 handle it.
