  1. Hmmm...should I? Nah. Darnit.

I can see being called DeadPussyCat, but GayRunner? How do you get GayRunner out of BladeRunner?

Being self-employed, I also make my living from my computer, which is why it isn't running WinME! laugh

But like I said, each to his own...Draftsweenie. MUAHAHAHA! laugh

  2. WinME? Oh yeah, I remember WinME.

That was the OS a buddy of mine was bragging about on the phone. Problem was, when I asked him a question about something work-specific, it took him a real long time to answer. Seems his 16-bit software (we run the same proprietary work software) had locked up his WinME machine and he had to reboot.

    But to each his own.

He likes games too much, so he's going back to WinME?

Some people should not be allowed to own computers. laugh

  4. Back in the day, CMOS were powered by an onboard battery. Sometimes those batteries would fail and need replaced.

I don't know if they're still that way or not, but your problem sounds suspiciously like that may be the case.

Do a search on "dxr3" in the message boards. P.S. It wasn't necessary for me to first install the NT4 drivers.

  6. Gawd, would everyone get away from this Partition Magic crap? When it does what it's supposed to do, it's wonderful. When it doesn't, it totally fubars your machine.

It's not the end-all and be-all. It only does what fdisk and format do, but acts as a shell for them. Yeah, I have to admit it is non-destructive. When it works right. But crap, it's just another GUI running ontop of another GUI, running ontop of another GUI...

IMHO, everyone...EVERYONE...ought to be required by law to take a good DOS class so they can see what is actually happening on their machines. laugh

  7. You know, I'm only running a crappy PII 333Mhz (but with 192Mb RAM), a Creative 6x DVD and Encore Dxr3 decoder card, and my movies play very well in Win2K. Nothing jittery, full-screen or partial screen, no crashing, sharp image, etc.

I'm using the Creative beta drivers + the registry hack someone on this board posted.

Exactly. We have a constitutional process that will handle it all, should the need arise. It could be a lot worse. Check out the current issue at www.theonion.com to see just how much! laugh

  9. Are you overclocking your cpu or video card? Overheating tends to cause the same problem you describe.

  10. I'm running NAV20001 that comes with SystemWorks 2001.

No problem with it, or with the NAV2000 I was previously running.

No help, I know. But at least it cuts out one more variable.

That sounds like some serious stuff. First, I'd check my BIOS for weird settings. Then, I'd consider a reformat and reinstall.

I've yet to see the problems you're having reported in this forum.

  12. Well, if we're talking time-travel here, I'm a DR-DOS 5 expert. (Nobody said anything about traveling back in time.)

  13. The GF out-performs the V5 card, but you know what? I like the visuals of the V5 much better than those of the GF.

If I were doing mostly online gaming, I'd go with the GF for raw performance. If I was doing mostly single-player, I'd want the purty pictures the V5 offers.

If I wanted to be able to do both, I'd install both cards and do dual monitor display. You CAN switch which display is your primary monitor. laugh

  14. Don't have the same camera or software, but here's what I do with my old Kodak DC40:

    1. Install proprietary software.

    2. Connect camera to serial port cable.

    3. Run proprietary software. Set preferences that tell it what camera I'm using and where it can be found (the appropriate serial port).

Now, if I don't want to use that, Kodak also issued TWAIN drivers, so that I can use just about any TWAIN-compliant program to download the photos to my PC; and also some more proprietary software with the sole purpose of just downloading photos from my PC and bulk-converting them into .JPG, .BMP, etc. formats.

So, basically, you may have several options, depending on the level of support Polaroid has. Is your PhotoMax software Win2K compatible? Have you tried installing and configuring it? Does Polaroid have TWAIN drivers? AND...have you looked under the hardware and software compatibility lists in www.ntcompatible.com ?

The problem-solver you're searching for is called, "format."

  18. Briefly, I dunno. Makes me wonder if your power supply is high enough wattage, also.

We're kinda having the same conversation in a thread over at the www.3dfiles.com message board, too.

  19. Hehehehe! I love it!

In fact, I just sent it to my brother. His ex-gf just tried to off herself by jumping out of a 4th floor window while coked-up. She ended up with a broken pelvis.

OBVIOUSLY, the paperclip-thingee could have helped her be more creative (and possibly more successful?).

I know, I know, I'm rude & crude...but ya gotta maintain a sense of humor, else the world's too tragic. laugh

  20. Are you overclocking your T-Bird or your V770 Ultra? UT is pretty processor-intensive, a real heat generator.
