  1. Everytime I insert a PC Card it detects it as a PCMCIA MTD-0002 device, no matter what PC Card I use. Cardbus controller is the Texas Instruments PCI-1211.

Anyone have this problem under Win2k, Win98 SE is fine. One thing I notice is that under Win98 there is something called Card Services under the PCMCIA adapter tab in Device Manager but under Win2k there isn't (cos I think Win2k has built in card services)

    Any ideas?

    Compaq Laptop 1600 series.

  2. If you have the latest game controllers, it should come with the CD. Obviously you don't, and a thorough search of Microsoft's site shows that they don't have it anywhere..

strange. Maybe they don't want ppl to use it if they don't have the latest hardware? Must be a reason.

I can put up the Sidewinder controller software v4.0 somewhere (someone give me a location) but it's 22 megs.

  3. Which version are you talking about for the MS FF wheel? Gameport or USB?

If it is USB it contains the latest drivers for the wheel on the included CD. Even though it complains when you install that it might not work, it does. Been fine playing Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed using it.

  4. I can understand the company's point of view. When they had their schedule Win2k wasn't out and testing under it wasn't under their plans (nor I think under any of the games currently released plans). These guys have a schedule to follow (and investors to please).

Would you really not buy another LucasArts game because of this? Then you are potentially shutting yourself out of their next blockbuster wink

Yeah that e-mail sounds harsh but that is the reality for games that have been released. But! if we all let ourselves be heard to the game companies _future_ releases will have Win2k support.

    P.S

Lucas has agreed to do the DVD. Check out starwars.com

  5. Currently the best driving game out there right now is Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed by Electronic Arts.

Trust me, this one is a game you don't want to miss, it's excellent.

I think "F1 2000" is out and runs on Win2k too if I remember someone posting about it.

If you have a GeForce, there are some driver issues I think with NFS:PU.

  6. Hmmm I bet the release has been pushed back. It's almost April 11, still nothing on the site. Checking their ftp site also, there's nothing there.

I had this event on my calendar that's how I remembered wink Can't trust those vendors really, I mean what's up with these vendors, they knew Win2k was coming didn't they?

  7. I can't seem to use any driver > 3.65.

It appears to be working when I install new drivers, but actually it isn't.

For example, I don't see the Nvidia control panel applet when I look at the Display->Advanced...

And when I run dxdiag.exe, it shows that Direct3D Hardware Acceleration is "disabled" (thus Need For Speed : Porsche Unleashed complains, even if I try to run it using Software Rendering). Software D3D is fine though.

Restoring to 3.65 version drivers, everything works fine.

    My setup is Celeron 400, Abit BX6 2.0 mobo, Win2k 2195.1, 128 MB RAM, Nvidia TNT2 (Diamond Viper 770).

  8. Hey you must have read my mind...!

I was going to post something about the RealTek8029(AS) not hibernating....(that's what Win2k is complaining about).

I downloaded the new drivers, still won't hibernate. I confirmed that it was the card by removing the card in Device Manager and doing hibernate...and it works. My mobo is Abit BX6 2.0 btw.
