    removing Diskeeper 5

Try this, I think I found it on the Diskeeper homepage: Manual Uninstall of Diskeeper on Windows 2000 Before you begin any editing of the registry, always update your ERD. The following are the steps to remove DISKEEPER manually: 1. From the Desktop, click START, then RUN. Type REGEDT32 for the command and click OK 2. Select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive and go to: SOFTWARE/EXECUTIVE SOFTWARE 3. Highlight the version of DISKEEPER you are using and delete the key 4. Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Installer/Products and delete the key {0815BA4C07B73D118ABF0001B4239620} Note: If you get the message "Registry Editor could not delete the key currently selected. The key, or one of its subkeys does not give you DELETE access." Click OK and then from the Security menu change the permissions settings to Everyone Full Control. Then you will be able to delete the key. 5. Next go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall and delete the key {C4AB5180-7B79-11D3-A8FB-00104B326902} 6. Under HKELY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/ delete the DISKEEPER key. 7. Select the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive and go to SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Installer/Products and delete the key 0815BA4C97B73D118ABF0001B4239620 8. Under Installer, double click Features and delete the key 0815BA4C97B73D118ABF0001B4239620 9. Close the registry, reboot the system and open Windows NT Explorer. 10. From where DISKEEPER was installed, delete the Executive Software directory in Program Files and all subdirectories. 11. On the boot disk, delete the Diskeeper directory in this location: \ Documents And Settings\ All Users\ Start Menu\ Programs 12. If you want to reinstall the built in defragmenter go to the \winnt\inf directory and right click on dfrg.inf. Select install. Then run regsvr32 dfrgsnap.dll and regsvr32 dfrgui.dll

    Temporary Internet Files Deleted!

Whenever I have to press the reset button, on reboot I find that all my Temporary Internet Files are deleted. The temp folder is on a different hard drive than the Windows installation. Using Windows 2000 with SP1 and IE5.5 with SP1. Wazzup with that ?

    GeForce Twin View problems ?

I think I read on this forum about a bug in Windows 2000 that would not let videocards like the GeForce with TwinView and G400 DualHead display different resolutions on two connected monitors. Has this been fixed ? I was thinking of replacing my two videocard solution with a GeForce TwinView, but the monitors would have to be in different resoultion (17" and 15").

    GeForce Twin View problems ?

Surely someone on this forum must be using two monitors on a graphic card with dual monitor output ?

    Temporary Internet Files Deleted!

The box is not ticked. This only happens if I, after the pc crash, have to press the reset button. It has never happened after a normal shutdown or reboot. I do notice that the pc takes a little longer to boot after a crash. Right before the desktop comes up, there is lots of disk activity for 10-20 seconds. I guess this is when the files are deleted. BUT WHY ? [This message has been edited by Corinthian (edited 09 February 2001).]

    PS2Rate

I too had that problem. I set the rate to 200 hz to fix the problem. At 150 hz my mouse would not move at all. Mouse Rate Checker reports only 150 hz though... I guess it is the limit for my mouse.
  12. Corinthian

what happens when you overclock your refresh rate?

Be VERY careful when going beyond the recommended hz limit on your monitor !!! It could actually burst into flames. This is something I have witnessed myself. Even if the monitor will display a perfect picture, it does not mean that the monitor can handle the high refresh. Always check the manual for the max refresh setting, and NEVER go beyond that.

    AWE 64 Gold

My AWE64 is working even better than it did under windows 98, using the drivers that came with Windows 2000. The sound is the same as before, but now I can get sound from more than one source at once... what this means is that I can play Quake2 and play mp3's at once. Under Windows 98 I had to close Winamp when I started a game, or else I would get an error message telling me that the sound card was already being used.

    Suggestion For Remote Control

Are there any Remote Controls that works well with Windows 2000 ? You know, so I can park my butt in the sofa and control Winamp and Media Player =) USB is preferable. [This message has been edited by Corinthian (edited 18 August 2000).]
  15. I removed my Floppy Disk Drive 'cos I NEVER use it. The idea was to free an IRQ and other resources. Before I removed it I uninstalled the Floppy Disk Controller from the Device Manager. When I rebooted I removed it from the BIOS as well, but Windows 2000 Pro insists on reinstalling the Floppy Disk Controller when it boots. I have even tried to enable 'Report no FDD for Win95' in the BIOS, but this does not help. So even if there is no Floppy Disk Drive in my computer, the resources are not released. I have an Abit BH6 motherboard. Any ideas ?

Removed Floppy Disk Drive keeps reappearing

I have tried to disable the Floppy disk controller in Device Manager, but this does not stop Windows 2000 giving it resources. System Information still says it is using IRQ 6 and such.

  18. When I started Windows Media Player 7 earlier today, I got promted to download a patch for it. The patch included something for Adaptec Easy CD Creator, and other things I can not remember at the moment. Well, when I rebooted, Adaptec DirectCD can't find a supported CD-R recorder. It worked just fine before I downloaded the patch ! I have a Plextor 8/4/32 IDE CDRW recorder and the final ver. of WMP 7

    ICQ and dual monitor

When running a dual monitor setup, is it possible to move ICQ to the second monitor ? Dragging it to the other monitor is not possible, because the edge of the main monitor is catching the ICQ window !

    ICQ and dual monitor

Don't need a G400 for that. Your desktop is expanded even if you have two completly different video cards. I use a Voodoo3 3000 AGP and an old Matrox Millennium PCI, works beautifully =) Anyway, ICQ responded via mail that they currently does not support dual monitors.

Refresh Rate with Voodoo 3 3000 AGP

After a fresh install of Windows 2000 Pro, my monitor is locked at 60 hz when I play games (in 1024x768). I used to have 85 hz. I use the 1.01.03 beta driver. Any ideas ?
