My problem has existed in these places. Just now playing quake 3 once in internet explorer and just after playing some games. some times when i restart the cmoputer just beeps and beeps and beeps. i think that the comptuers mobo detected that it was to hot and shut down and didnt work till it cooled a couple degrees. when i start back up, it says that it is around 110f on the processor could this be the problem? or should i jsut disable auto restart and see if it is bsod, copy that error, and ask people what it is? ------------------ Amd k7 500 w/ 3dnow and mmx. :: 192 mb sd100 ram. With my monster mx300 as i have posted before, i have been recieving bad sound quality in windows 2000. a3d dosent work correctly eigher. when i start the comptuer, the start up sound is glitchy sounding. and when i start up icq, the truck horn sound glitches the whole way thur, this also happens in winamp. in quake 3 when a3d is on it dosent play my players sounds. i have the a3d 3.12 drivers and i believe i have the newest stuff from that space port web page. has anyone else had this problem or been able to find a fix to it? ------------------ Amd k7 500 w/ 3dnow and mmx. :: 192 mb sd100 ram. /s_enable_a3d If you, like i have been having problems with a3d not playing when in quake3 when selecting it from the menu, try going to the consol and typing this... /s_enable_a3d ... it enables a3d from the consol adn worked for me. it just dosent sound as crisp as i remember it being. but never the less, it seams to work. ------------------ Amd k7 500 w/ 3dnow and mmx. :: 192 mb sd100 ram. That is strange, i have found that games and everythign runs better in windows 2000, especialy because the ram is flushed every time you exit a program unlike 9x where it keeps it in the mem. in games such as halflife of i dont see soem of the textures when in open gl mode, such as the hand gun, it is just brown, and those little guys with the claws that shoot crap out of their heads, they are just that same brown color. i also downloaded this benchmark 3dworld test for my geforce and it had most all of the textures missing. has this happened to anyone else using a geforce and windows 2000. is d3d better to use than opengl? i was using d3d for halflife because it looked better but when i hit excape the screen woudl turn black and not go to the menu. any suggestions, thanks. ------------------ Amd k7 500 w/ 3dnow and mmx. :: 192 mb sd100 ram. That could be a possablility, but i first experienced a3d flawlessly under my new mobo with my amd k7 before going to windows 2000 where it became scratchy. Has anyone found a fix for the q3 a3d no player sound problem (ther is background sound, just not sound of your player.) H Keel, it seams that you have downloaded the 9x drivers, your best bet is to take out the two cards and restart. Also you said that you had problems with you disk drive, dont freak out, you prob just left a disk in the a drive. So check that, restart the computer, and get in windows 2000. you need to get windows 2000 or windows nrdrivers for yoru cards, you will need nt or 2000 drivers for everything, not 9x. so get them, put in the cards, restart, tell it where the files are, install them, and your should be fine. you will even get to listen to your kkk er 311 music. ------------------ Amd k7 500 w/ 3dnow and mmx. 192 mb sd100 ram.
