  1. I got one too, no problems. For your info, just released: Plextor 24/10/40A firmware upgrade to v.1.03.

    Fixed Bugs:

Transfer mode changes from DMA to PIO when the system exits stand-by mode under Windows 2000

Autorun does not start on Windows XP system

A UDF formatted CD-R would be recognised as Audio CD (Windows XP systems only)

LED turns on green during software eject while the tray is already open

    Improvements:

Write performance for newer CD-R media and support of newer disc types.

  2. Anyone know if there is a newer tcpdrv.dos to get somewhere? The version on the NT4 ServerCD for making net-bootdisks does not work with our new fileserver frown It's a Win2k cluster with Gb-NICs and when restoring Ghost-images from this server to the workstations it always ends up with an errormessage after 20-50%.

I can use the networkdisks created by the Ghostsoftware (DR.DOS) but would rather use MS-DOS since I spent alot of time building the templatedisk for 8 different NIC's a couple of moths ago, something I would rather not do again.

It seems to me that the old drivers are not compatible with Win2k. (Work's fine against a NT4 server)

    Any tips folks ?

    Thanks in advance.

    /Toby

  3. It did work !

The only problem with this method is that there is no way to choose

under what user the script should run. So I ended up with the password i clear text in the batchfile. No big deal, but something to think about when looking trough the ntfs-permissions on the batchfiles.

    Thanks smile

  4. Won't work, c$ is just a share like anyone else. Need to logon before connecting to it.

The application that runs on the server is a Lotus-server and that shitty piece of crap can't use UNC paths. It can only access the data on another server through a driveletter. I want the share to be mapped without anyone need to be logged on locally.

Hope this clear it up a bit smile

    Cheers!

  5. Hi !

I been trying to setup a drivemapping on a win2k server without the

need of a user to be logged on. I have tried to schedule a batchfile (net use blablabla) to be started when the computer start

and tried to make a service of the batchfile without any success....

Anyone know how to do this? A thirdparty app perhaps? If thirdparty it would be great if it was freeware since this is a just a testserver...The server is a

member of a domian and I was planning to use a domainaccount for this mapping.

    Thanks in advance.

  6. You got nothing to worry about. The programmers wrote that option to give you the possibility to install it on a NT operating system even though it does not have the required DirectX verison (NT4).

If I remember correct it was even documented on Looking Glass's homepage smile

Looks at the compression tool used on this file, using RAR, something Microsoft never use for their file distributions.

MS uses selfextracting RAR-files for thier online MSDN-files (ISO's and other) laugh

Not that they released this one, but all pre-SP fixes are availible on thier ftp-site. You have to call them because they are password protected but they do not charge you anything.

I had to use some pre-SP7 fixes for NT4 and I got them rightaway.

  8. In NT4 ResKit it's called srvany.exe and in Win2k it's called instsrv.exe there's also a GUI version for instsrv.exe called Service Installation Wizard.

Some of the ResKit tools MS released as freeware, do a search for them.

  9. These new drivers comes with TV-Out default enabled (Very stupid thing to do). My old old monitor could not display 50Hz so my screen got black, luckily for me my other monitor could so I could use that one to disable TV-Out.

Maybe there is a possibility to disable TV-out in safemode?

Could this be your problem too?

  10. That's wierd, I got the exact same setup and I have never had any need for configuring port forwarding. But I'm running 2k, maybe they change something in XP.

Just wondering, if the ftp-server is listening on the exernal nic/ip (same as ICS) where to send the packets forward?

The only problem I had with this setup was that my ftp-server would only listen to the internal nic as default, had to force it to listen on the exeternal ip/nic.

  11. When you connections aren't permitted, does it "hang" when it suppose to transfer the directory info or does the server not respond at all?

If it "hangs" make sure the clients are configured to use passive mode ftp.
