  1. ThC 129: If you're interested in hacked firmware for your HP 8100+ I can send it to you.. I'm using it myself and its working 100%, no more problems with 80min CDs..

    From infofile:

"This firmware has been hacked to call itself HP 8100 instead of Sony CRX-100E. The LEDs act just as they did on the HP 8100 with this hacked firmware. The ONLY thing it does is flash an HP 8100 with 1.0n firmware in a way that doesn't cause the drive to call itself a Sony CRX-100E, and maintains the way the LEDs work on an HP 8100. Essentially, it's like a new version of the HP 8100 firmware. It solves problem with 80min CDs for good!"

    HP8100 & Sony CRX-100E = Same drive...

It just sucks that HP didnt release this firmware, they have totally lost it !

    (Still waiting for printer-drivers..zzz..zzz)

  2. Hi !

A friend of mine is going for a trip to Warren/Detroit Zip code 48093, in October. I was thinking I'll get him to buy me a new Mobo (Asus CUSL2), saving me some money for a new CPU.

(The mobo just GOT to be cheaper in the States than in Sweden.) laugh

What stores to visit, do they have a webpage ?

    Thanks in advance... smile

  3. Hi

Make a DOS-bootdisk, copy ghost.exe to the disk, run it, local disk/partition to image.

    Choose another partiion/disk for destination.

Thats is no news from the old days, but whats new is dumping images from clients with dynamic disks ! That requiers Win2k server with one ore more clients in a domain/peer to peer.

Great manual in pdf-format right on the CD, check it out....

  4. I agree, who cares about scrolling the wheel ?!!

    Nodens, Applications=Wokstations=Win2k/NT

There must be some other board around for posting all this WinME-stuff !

Now, I'm not referring to just this thread, but WinME-posts i general.

Theres NO need for running a 16bit-loving, lame, hardfreeze, BSOD-diggi'n OS when there's such a great OS as Win2k around !!

Some say: But my old games !

I say: Buy som NEW fu**ing games !

Ahh, got rid of some steam...

  5. Same thing as ??!!!

Most people have - problem with IE5.5, be more specific...

The thing is, I think most problem related to IE5.5 is result of other beta/alpha-drivers for your sound/graphicscard...

If there would be a problem with IE5.5 in general there would be 100+ posts only on this subject...

One other thing: alot of people keep saying nvidias chips is the way to go....on the other hand reading posts on this board, 80% is problem with Geforce, TNT2 etc etc....

(Nvidia spitting out 5 lame drivers a moth)

I'm sure in for a 3dfx-card for my next upgrade...

    In a huge hangover.....

  6. Hi

Try uninstall (not just unbind) the file&printer sharing on both computers and the reinstall then.

(Not sure about the Client for MS Networks, if the file&print sharing don't do the trick try it...)

This should set the values in your registry.

  7. Hi.

No problem in a making logon-scrips on a standalone Workstation.

Just make a *.bat file like "test.bat" under \winnt\system32\repl\import\scripts

you have to create the folders repl, import, spcripts.

Now goto Users&Passwords in the ConrolPanel, select advanced properties for the user, type test.bat (in this case) in the Logon Script field. Do NOT use the full path....

If you lack the knowledge to write scrips, just search the net. Lots of help to find if you are willing to learn.... This is just to get you started...

    Good Luck..

  9. Check for an unvalid entry (conserning system32) in the registry under:

    LocalMachine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run

You can put "rem" (no "") before the Value Data if youre not sure about what value to delete.

  10. I got a Sidewinder Freestyle 3D and it came with a Gameport->USB converter.

I don't know where to buy these converters (should be no prob.) or if it'll work with the wheel, but it might work.....

    Just a thought.

  11. Damn !

I just checked UT on my machine and I got the same thing, it defaults to 60hz in glide !

Found the solution on another board:

" I thought i would post this as a lot of people are running Windows 2000 nowadays and having problems with their refresh rates defaulting to 60hz when using the newer drivers. This fix sets your chosen refresh for D3D, Glide / OpenGL and your desktop.

*IMPORTANT BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY BEFORE TRYING THIS*

Open your registry editor by going to - Start, Run then type in regedit.

    Goto the following Key

    "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services"

You'll notice right at the top a key with a name called "3DFXVS" (or something very similar) so open that.

Theres a sub key called "TIMINGS"

Within that key is the various resoloutions eg:

    800,600

    640,480

    1024,768

open a resoloution and you'll notice that there is the various refresh rate keys supported within. Eg:

    70hz

    85hz

    60hz

    120hz

To set your prefered refresh rate simply delete any keys that are lower than your chosen refresh rate for that resoloution.

eg: to set a refresh of 85 you would delete, the 70 and 60 keys.

Repeat this for every resoloution your run then simply reboot.

    Dave

    Oops,

1 thing i forgot to mention is that when you open the *3DFXVS* key, you'll see 4 devices listed

The 1 you want is *Device0*

So open that Key right after opening the *3DFXVS* key"

    It worked for me....
