I was just going to post about this. I reinstalled my system and VM was nowhere to be found...I wonder why they took it away without any info on thier java-site??!! Big thanks Davros! I'm downloading it now

Quote: Someone told me its because I disabled the Last Access Update in NTFS. Some files need this to lookup certain files atributes? It should not be a problem to disable Last Access Update but if you disabled (value 1) NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation that's the problem. Some installers depend on 8.3-names to work correctly. Change it back, reboot and try agian. /Toby

It will make you log off and will close all applications... http://www.krypton3d.com/xp Can't find any patch for this use of cmd.exe over at ms, hope they post one soon... What I would like to know is, does your AV-software detect this? Mine does not - Norton Corp 7.60 /Toby

Ok, I tried it... It pops up with a warning and then logs me off So it catched it but couldnt do anything about it. Reinstalling NAV Corp... I really don't know, but it's my guess that it monitor temporary internet files for a spawn of a commandshell but thats just a guess. I have not seen this myself, it's just what I was told by a guy running F-secure. I'll check if there's a trail and try it myself Got nothing better to do anyway, just trying to ignore my hangover /Toby
-
Yeah I know it's up to MS. But since I read that F-secure detect it as: Exploit.CodeBaseExec, I was intrested in what other AV-scanners could do /Toby

I agree with insaNity, CDex rocks. I've been using it for a long time and it's great, never had any problems with it. /Toby

Try to stop & disable the indexservice and see if it helps.

We got a consultant from MS coming over to work on monday helping us out with some troubles with our migration of Exchange>AD. I'll talk to him and if I get the files I'll send then to you ASAP. /Toby

It does, but if you can ignore the warning by pressing defrag again.

I think this "Pacman" is full of ****. I have used Diskkeeper7 for some time now without any problems and it does it all in one pass. Just make sure to run chksk.exe /F first to fix any filesystem errors berore running the defrag to avoid any corruption. Most likely "Pacman" had not /Toby

Hi, Just call Microsoft and they will send the hotfix you by e-mail i notime. I have called them a few times and they are very fast, and they never charge you for the fixes. /Toby

The /V flag gives you the info of what's been fixed. example: chkdsk d: /F /V >c:\log.txt whould log to log.txt on your c:\ instead of the screen. /Toby

I just reinstalled my workstation at home. Back to Win2k from XP and the only thing I can think of is "why did'nt I do this earlier". I't feels so much more speedy and snappier and this is on a PIII 1Ghz with 512MB. The only thing I'm gonna miss is the updated version of TS. Do anyone else feel the same way? Anyway, happy new year to all of you ! /Toby

Sandoval, Glad you agree with me. The stuff you wrote is exactly what I ment I doubt I'll give it another try after SP1, it will still be to many stupid "wizards" and even after disabling them the whole OS feel much slower...I have always been very pleased with Win2k so I really don't know why I even bothered with XP, I guess the only reason is that it's fun to try out everything new (Just to let you know, I also got a CUSL2-mobo(BIOS 1009)and it has been very stable with XP so maybe there is a bad driver for one of your PCI-cards?) Cheers! /Toby
