  1. The thing is that RH has crippled KDE. I have used the Fontinstaller in KDE (Mandrake too) before but in this release RH has removed it. I think that RH8 works with fonts in another way, not supported with the availble tools. At least I hope so, coz this method is not very strightforward Anyway, if you are using RH8 check out that Mozilla build. [edit] will add some screenshots tomorrow... [/edit]
  2. Got the fonts to work in OpenOffice by copying them to: /usr/lib/openoffice/share/fonts/truetype/ /Toby

  5. Thought it would be a good thing to check with you guys before applying the SP. Anyone had troubles with applications running on Metaframe (serverside) after SP3? Hope it's just an evil rumor Thanks in advance. /Toby
  6. Cool, I noticed that too. I would like to take the opportunity to thank you Phiipp for both this site and Linux Compatible. It must be really hard work keeping the frontpages updated with the latest news all time. They are both top class and makes it easy for me to keep up with latest news thanks, Toby

    Wow! Netscape doesn't suck anymore

Clutch, I had some problems with the java plugins i Mozilla too, but fixed it when I visited this page http://nampjal.sourceforge.net/ (as root, won't install under regular user). Just follow the promt for installing the plugin. This worked for me with the latest build of Mozilla (1.1 ??) /Toby

Cannot assign drive letter to partition

I had the exact same problem with a new isntall awhile ago. It turned out that the installation had marked the partition as "hidden". Had to load Partion Magic and unhide it. That fixed it for me /Toby

Just installed the new Red Hat Beta

I have been using it for a couple of days now and must say it works very well (with some minor troubles). When I first logged in I nearly puked. I have never seen such an ugly icontheme before...ever To make it look real good install the slick icontheme. It's a easy download/install from kdelook.org. Grab it here: http://www.kdelook.org/content/show.php?content=732 No builltin NTFS-support in the kernel I'm trying to get authenticated by PDC-emulator on the AD so I can connect to some of the fileservers but no luck yet. Have to give the reading about the Samba-client a little more time. I'm using rdesktop for now. Works very well, real cool /Toby

  13. Hi, it's been about 2 months since I last gave Linux a try. I tried the latest distros from both RH and Mandrake but they did both failed to find my IDE-raid controller . I installed it on a standalone drive instead but it did not impress me enough to insert the bootfloppy very often (failed to update the MBR on the RAID) ... So I wiped it for storagespace. Anyway, now that Philipp started this site (good move ) I thought it would be a about time to try it out again. I was thinking about downloading Mandrake9 Beta2. Anyone know if that distro supports IDE-RAID? Or should I get another distro? Thanks in advance. /Toby
  14. Thanks for the reply. During the setup Mandrake only found my IDE drive, my RAID never shows up. RH found it to be an IDE-controller but with a workaround and drivers from Promise I got it running now The Promise website said not to use the drivers with any other distro so I'll use RH for now. I'm afraid to ruin my RAID-set 8) I'm really a novice at Linux but it's funny I'll try to update the kernel now.... /Toby
  15. yes it works fine If you got ICS set up on XP, just configure your Linux box to use DHCP and your done. /Toby
  16. The Mandrake Beta did not have any drivers for it.....Found drivers for the RH distro will try that.. /Toby

  21. [edit] the reason I ask is I'm stuck with it since installing the Insight Manager Client for my Compaqservers...and I wanna get rid of it. [/edit] /Toby
