Are loged as administrator ???? If you are,just edit the security for WINNT folder, and add the right to erase it for administrator. Some files can only be access by the system (like swap files).You can add you the riht to edit and even ersae them (at your onwn risk). Here, there won't be any one, so add you the recusive right to erase this folder and do it ... Awx

You can have a mlook at hardware feature and settins in hardware tab in "My Computer" properties and display hardware by resources. In my computer (ASUSP2B) : Input/Output 03b0-03bb Input/Output 0300-03df Mem Range 000a0000-000bffff everythin is related to PCI that suballocate this memory to Intel 82443BX controler from PII to AGP that suballocate it to my ASUS V3800 called nVidia RIVA TNT2 cos I use nVidia drivers). Just contact your collegecomputer departement. We don't know anything how you LAN is managed. You could try to give an IP by yourself, but just contact them : it's their job. Awx

If you have Win98 on one driver and install Win2k on another, it will automatically create a boot menu to let you choose which OS you wanna use today. I f you wanna have more precise information about editin and tweaking what does appearin this menu, I gave link in this old post : How can I access the bootmenu to edit the text it displays in 2k? . What a lovely forum we had, just before this blac day : February 17th. Only a few and very interesting question a day and only a few stupid "you should try the search buton" ones a week. A now, it's newbie crisis and I have nothing to read and not even a question to answer !!!!! Everybody says here : 1 - I have this box, do you think I could run Win2k ? 2 - I have this prob, did anyone have the same ? 3 - How can I do that ? I think nearly 70% of questions can be answerred via SEARCH, 20% don't even need to be asked, only 10% would be hard to find a solution. PLez everybody, try to limit question cos it takes HOURS to read all of them, and when I see o much question, I don't even try to answer them. You get only 5 more fps because of you video card (unable to fill enough polygone). But you can run a LAN server on one CPU and play on the other !!! Awx

I TOTALLY agre with YuppieScum. I mean : I DO answers question (already more than 100 post, should be around 70 answers and what about YuppiScum :more than 400 (!) posts). I try by myself, and then I ask another one. If you never try, you'll always have to ask someone : when I teach something to my mother on computing, she writes EXACTLY what to do and have NO IMAGINATION to solve a other problem, even very close. So when we see very low-level question, we think : "What this guy doing here ? he should first train on a easier OS, learn a few basics and then try a little bit harder". Second, we REALLY see the sames questions coming back over again and again (as the TNT question). The first time we saw it, we try to solve the prob : I've already ****ed my full working Win2k try to solve someone else prob. After seing it again 10 times, we're getting crazy (sometimes, people don't even read 2 lines below). We've been here fow 2 or 3 months or even more. So MANY questions have been answered. Suicide ? I have a V3800TVR, worksperfectly, with 3.78 from nVidia, (always worked execpt D3D and OGL sometimes but now everything is OK). I NEVER enabled anythin in my BIOS : try to disable it ???? Awx

OpenGL or D3D ???? If D3D, try to disable hardware acceleration from dxdiag and you'll know if it's coming from the card. Then try every driver you can find on the net (TRY THE SEARCH BUTTON). If not, suicide ? Awx

Why so many question and why removing OEM drivers ??? I'be installed all my TNT drivers from 3.55 to 3.78 without any prob : just choose to update your driver and say you wanna choose your own driver at a precise location. No prob and works fine. Anyway, current drivers aren't perfect (AGP DD and OGL but no TV-Out and no tweak), but there're good. Plez, try to find real question to real prob. Awx

If you wanna esealy edit your boot.ini and NT BootMenu, , you can have a look at WinImage BootPart : it's a small tool that can help you tweak your menu. And if you really wanna know what's inside boot.ini : go at Microsoft support in boot.ini explanation section. Awx

I have a great idea : TRY THE SEARCH BUTTON !!!!!! Win2k final is out since December. So we had TWO months to figure there was a trouble with UT and find MANY solution to it. Awx

First, your CPU is too small for Win2k, stay on Win95 or buy a PII350 or more. Second, your HD is too small for Win2k, stay on Win95 or buy a 6 Go or more. Third, your sound card is a crap, brand new and powerful new sound card are really cheap, buy a new one or sayon Win95. All I can say, is that you computer is really to old to be under Win2k. If I were you, I would say under in95, that as been desined to fit on your computer. If you want to use a 4 years old computer, use 4 or 3 years old software. And if you wanna use today software, buy a computer tomorrow. Awx

I remember too when TNT2 was out : 3dfx was selling is 16b chip and as every benchmark under 32b for TNT2 against Voodoo# was telling that 3dfx chip DID NOT support 32b, 3dfx keeped saying : 32b is for crazy peolple, no one can see the difference. And now, here they are. Awx
