    Soldier of Fortune demo

I used to have that skipping problem myself. It was a grey screen then I updated my drivers to 3.75 and it runs fine. I have a GeForce DDR and Quake III doesn't crash anymore in SMP mode with 3.75 drivers Just delete everything nvidia associated and do a clean update.
  3. Well not a joystick, I mean a controller like those old NES, SNES,and Playstation controllers. My old gravis phoenix is a joystick that worked well back in the Mech Warrior 2 days, but it's not good enough for the current games. I need a little controller maybe it's called a gamepad? Or maybe I should put this crack pipe down

  5. Hi guys, I just want to know if I can format a primary NTFS ( C: ) drive? I know in Windows 2000 I can set allocation unit size to 4096 bytes in NTFS. Is there a command I can do in the command prompt that will do something like Format C:/s -bytes 4096 or something that will make my primary have 4096 allocation unit size? I was thinking of making my old 2.5 gig and make it primary and load windows 2000 on it and format my 20.5 gig. But that is taking more than 5 hours to do. Please is there any easier way to do this? Thanks

Can I check my RAM in NT?

I know this sounds little dumb. But is there a way I can check if I have a non-parity, non-ECC memory module in Windows NT? I know a few years back there was a website that checked your whole system including the ram to tell you if you had parity or non-parity RAM. Thanks guys

Hi guys I have: Dual Pentium II 450 128PC-100 RAM Intellieye USB USB keyboard Sound Blaster Live TNT2 Ultra Promise Ultra DMA 66 controller 3COM 10/100Mbit 3XP processor I don't know if it's the soundblaster live or the harddrive that locks up my system in Q3A. I run SMP mode and reboot and it runs fine for a few hours then it just locks up when it's loading a level, it doesn't happen when I am playing in the game only when it is loading the map, sound, models etc. Can someone please help me? Is Sound Blaster Live SMP crash prone?

Autoxer, Windows 2000 RC3 detected my sound blaster live. When I was in RC2 it did not detect it. So I deleted the whole multimedia devices in device manager. Then I rebooted and it got detected again. Make sure you use the drivers on the CD. If this doesn't work let me know SHS I have build 2183 ( I think you're asking Autoxer, I am not sure ) Igore, I have no idea in determining what model number I have. But I know it's the really early ones because I bought it when it first game out and replaced my MX200 with it I don't know if it's the sound or the hardware that is causing the lock ups.

Need help with SCSI devices and other stuff :)

Thanks guys for the advice on the SCSI card I think Adaptec looks good I have a 3COM NIC with no problems so far. I guess the name can take you so far? Pay the big bucks and be set with compatability issues Can someone recommend a good adaptec model? JimmyK, that's the Plextor CDR drive I am getting the 8X read/write hehe. ByronT, I meant a clean format in C: drive in NTFS. I know you cannot do it in W2K because there is no DOS prompt ( except for CMD ). But I have no idea how to do a clean format on primary drive that is already NTFS. Thanks for the advice guys ------------------

    TNT2 Ultra refresh problem :(

Hi guys, I am having a problem under windows 2000 RC2 with my TNT2 ultra card. I ran quake 1 and 2 but they are at 60Hz refresh rate. My windows is at 100Hz refresh rate. I also have tried increasing quake 2 resolution to 1024 x 768 like my desktop setting, but it's not 100Hz when I run the game. Please help guys I have the beat detonator 3.36 w2k beta drivers. Anybody know of a new OpenGL driver that supports higher than 60Hz refresh? thanks

    TNT2 Ultra refresh problem :(

I found out after a few days of searching the web. There is this utility called power strip ( http://www.entechtaiwan.com/ps.htm ) which let me change my refresh to 60Hz to 200Hz at 800 x 600 in 32-bit true color mode. Works great in Quake I and 2. It is a lot easier on eyes now and with a dual Pentium II 450 this baby screams on a cable modem Try Power Strip out! Reply if you read this so I know I am not speaking to deaf ears.
