how to boot to a:\ prompt with win 2k

I don't recommend this. But I've been doing this for years and I still don't have any problems. What I do is boot off the Windows 98SE bootdisk and flash the bios on the Hard Drive It never failed so far ------------------ Supermicro P6DBE Rev 3.0 Motherboard Dual Intel Pentium III 850 512 MEGS of ECC RAM Sound Blaster Live! Tiberian Sun & W2k- problem, do you believe it?

When those "memory cannot be read" errors appear on my screen it's time for a format and a clean install It gets very annoying when this happens. Plus I get a NTkernel error when I install new hardware. I have no idea why NT is soo damn picky on new hardware. But ooooh the stability. I have never got BSOD yet, unlike 9X which was a very common occurence during the day I have ECC ram from crucial (512 to be exact). I asked them about it and they told me that a fresh install usually fixes it. Files do become corrupt overtime. No suchthing as an error free OS But Windows 2000 is pretty close to it. Try a clean install with your new hardware. Remember install the OS than update immediately to SP1. Make sure everything is updated before installing new drivers for your hardware. ------------------ Supermicro P6DBE Rev 3.0 Motherboard Dual Intel Pentium III 850 512 MEGS of ECC RAM Sound Blaster Live! DirectX 8.0 question.

By installing DirectX 8.0 (Windows 2000) do I override the Livewire 3.0 DirectX 7.0 drivers correct? So in other terms you don't need to download Livewire 3.0 drivers for DirectX because it's already supplied with Direct 8.0 right?

DirectX 8 Out - Whats the scoop?

I have had it easy I guess I have no problems with Det. 7.17 drivers, performance wise I didn't notice any different from 6.47. Quake III has a minor increase of 2 FPS. The sound skipping is still there with my Sound Blaster Live card. I guess we have to wait for Creative to release new drivers. ------------------ Supermicro P6DBE Rev 3.0 Motherboard Dual Intel Pentium III 850 512 MEGS of ECC RAM Sound Blaster Live! The motherboard is a Intel 440 GX chipset. Which means the motherboard is running at 100MHz. It will work with ANY Intel Xeon Pentium III CPU which runs at 100MHz FSB. 10. I wanted to try this bad boy and see what is so negative about the new media player. I want to give it a week or two before I conclude if it sucks or not I do have a minor problem though. Is there anyway I can delete that HUGE list of .WAV files I have accumulated by clicking on random .WAV files to see how it sounds and looks. Every time I start WMP7 and click on the file tab I get this huge list of .WAVs I was listening to. I want to get rid of this list I did delete my play list, and clicked on the deleted item icon and nothing happened! That huge list is still under the file tab. Anybody know how to get rid of it? Thanks

    Sp1 Hlorrible Problems!!!! (reasons within)

Don't upgrade. Do a fresh install of Windows 2000. If you have the upgrade CD it will prompt you for the Windows 9X CD and will then do a fresh install of Windows 2000.
