  1. DELL doesn't want to to upgrade because they want you to sell a new system smile

But I did replace a few CPU's on DELLs with a bit faster cpu and it was all ok.

What you need to do is to go to dell site and check to see what is the fastst CPU they sell that model with and that is what u can go up to.

In most cases you can't go to P3 if you just have a P2 model.

  2. Another usless post.

Well the trick was supposed to work...but it didnt. Still, there's always the FSB. But with a KT133 board, you really cant push it past 113MHz. And this is on the Asus A7V. Still, thats nothing to laugh at.

Make sure you get some kinda thermal paste, dropped my cpu temp by 10 degrees.

    Hope it works.

If the "pencil trick" is merely drawing a conductive path between two points, then why not get a conductive pen? You can find them at better electronics stores (usually not at Radio Shack) at they work very well. I used them in the past for correcting burned traces on circuit boards in moderate temperature applications. Shouldn't cost more than $5 US.

Clutch - if i go into a store, what do i ask for? A conductive Pen? are there any other names?

  6. Here is something I dug up from www.voidyourwarranty.com :

Setting up a physical array is very easy, you simply select two hard drives, both on the same channel and set one as a boot drive and the other as the secondary. Set the stripe block, which should be larger than the cluster size (preferably two times the size of your average cluster size, aka 32k clusters = 64k stripe block prefferably), setup the physical partitions, format, and your good to go.

  7. If I remeber correctly some site that compared RAIDs said that setting ya RAID clusters to 1/2 the size of you HD clusters provides the best performance. They recommended going with 64 or 128 depending on HD size

  8. This is a problem solver message board so 90% of the messages are about problems... and 9% just junk. If this was a message board of ppl who have no problems then most messages would be like:

"I have no problems, system is running well"

I wanna see many ppl visiting that boad wink

I know a guy who runs CAD with 128 Ram and P3-733, G450, Win2k pro, he says that his system works very well with no flaws.

After all it is all in how much effort you spend seting up the system and leaving it alone. Basicaly if you do a setup and then DON'T **** with drivers it should run fine for a long time.

  9. Well.. Last weekind was spend rebuilding the rig... will see if the RAID0 can be

    reliable in a long run.

  10. What is better, set one HD as Primary master and Second as Primary slave or

One as Primary master and second as Primary slave (RAID 0 setup)

From what I read it does makes a difference, but I can't remember the relation and I lost the link frown.gif

How do you like you RAID setup? any problems? Hows the performance?

  11. Don't worry to much INFERNO2000. EVERY flat monitor (not the LCD) has 2 thin lines across. One 1/4 way other 3/4 way. You can only see them on a white background and after 1 week you will never notice them again smile I'm speaking from experience here laugh
