    Anyway, that thread looks like its been pruned, but I had solved the problem of no booting by RMA'ing the mobo.

     

    However, since I've installed the new mobo, I've had problems nonetheless.

    When I start my computer, immediately after the Welcome screen, I'll get a BSOD with "IRQL_not_less_or_equal" and the computer will self-restart. When this happens, it always comes back after the 3rd try. It usually only happens when I cold boot, and somtimes when I just restart. It does not always happen during a cold boot, however.

    The computer also will restart itself if it has been on for a prolonged period of time - usually about a day or so.

     

    Now while this was pretty annoying and inconvenient, I kind of neglected trying to fix the issue. However, yesterday I installed a game which "updated" my DX9 drivers. Later, while I was using the computer, it restarted itself (it had been about a day), and now it wouldn't even get past the Welcome screen.

     

    I figured it must be a Windows problem, so I decided to do a Repair installation using a Windows CD. The problem is - it gets stuck at 34 minutes.

    I've searched various solutions for this on the web (apparently this is a common problem for users) and I've tried the following things:

    - Shift F10, finding the .inf in the log file, deleting it.

    - Choosing Standard PC

    - Running in Debugging Mode

     

     

    All of which to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas what I could possibly do, short of reformatting my entire hard drive?

    Yeah, this time my problem is a bit larger than USB =p

     

    I build this computer a few months ago:

    AMD 64 3800+ X2 Dual Core @ 2.1 GHz

    1GB DDR2 Corsair XMS2 RAM

    eVGA 7600 GT KO

    Motherboad is Asus M2N4-SLi

    320GB 7200RPM Seagate HD.

     

    Working fine until just about...30 minutes ago. I've moved it around without any problems, so I didn't think moving it today would bring up any problems.

    I usually keep it at my dorm - well I'm home for the holidays so naturally I brought it home with me. Just a car ride home - no rought handling or shipping via airplane.

    It was working at my dorm...after I took it home and plugged everything in...pressed the power button...first nothing happened on the monitor. It's apparently not getting any signal. I also noticed my power light won't turn on? My motherboard light turns on, my fans are on, my LED's are on...my eVGA has a fan and that's running so my graphics card is getting power too.

     

    I did a few things to try and troubleshoot it.

    - Tightened and pressed down wires

    - Removed my graphics card and replaced it

    - Removing CPU fan and replacing it

    - Replugging wires and connections

     

    None of which helped. Still the same problem...anyone have any suggestions?

    No clue about the motherboard manual of the older computer, it was built by HP.

     

    The motherboard for my newer computer supports USB2.0 all around.

     

    But I think I figured out the problem. (Or at least, overshot one.) The USB hard drive does not work on my old computer anymore, either. I think I have a few options now:

     

    1.) Try to reformat it back to FAT32

    2.) Call Western Digital and try to get it detected again

    3.) Ask Western Digital to replace it

     

    All of which may cause loss of the files I have on the hard drive, which I'd like to keep. What should I do?

    Well, here's my problem:

     

    I just bought a Western Digital 60gb Passport II 2.5" Hard Drive this past week at Black Friday. Took it home, worked wonderfully. It was formatted as FAT32, so I reformatted it to NTFS, still no problems.

     

    So, I bring it to my other computer, and I get "USB Device Not Recognized". My other computer detects any other USB device just fine, just not my hard drive.

     

    I've searched all over the internet, including Western Digital's own support site, but to no avail. If anyone could give me a solution, I'd be more than grateful.
