Everything should work just fine except for the RAM. The motherboard supports up to PC3200 and your memory is PC2700. It may work just fine, but I would look into a memory upgrade, especially considering how cheap memory is at the moment.

Just remember, sometimes with RAM, like most things, you get what you pay for.

I've seen this with 2.5 inch drives here at work. Unfortunately something goes bad on the firmware or bootsector of the drive. I'd go to WD's site with your serial number and pray it is still under warranty.
Here is the link to their end-user warranty check.

Well, since it works @ post, you might want to go into BIOS and see of all the PS2/Legacy USB options are set to enabled. That would be the only thing I can think of.
Hope it helps.

You can have a 6600 or 6600LE card work in SLI without the Connector @ the top that we're used to seeing. I have SLI running @ my house with two 6600 SLI compatible cards.
It works because there is enough bandwidth left over on the PCI Xpress bus to handle the through put on these lower end cards.
Here is a link from an nvidia sponsered site that backs up what I'm saying.

If you are taking a hard drive from a Gateway PC, with Windows XP installed with the hardware on the Gateway, you may never get this to work.
I have seen XP boot on one system when it was installed in another, but you are asking for all kind of problems. I recommend formatting the drive and starting over.
If you are just 'adding' the old drive, then I there shouldn't be a problem unless you have the 'master' 'slave' jumpers messed up and it is trying to boot off the old drive and not the original Compaq drive.
Hope this helps.
