Hey all its been awhile.
My question is this I knw you can put a password to be triggered when you sign into your computer but I have also read that the safest way to protect your system is to run a password in boot mode.
That would make it seem to be the best thing because then no one would be able to spoof people's passwords after the system loads up.
Have any of you ever heard of password protecting your computer at boot up and if you have can you point me to an article that tells me how to do it.
Thanks, for any help I can get.

I found out how to do it.
First go to start and click on control panel, then click on the system icon. Next click on advanced system settings, click on continue and click on the advanced tab, then click on startup and recovery and click on the settings button, then uncheck the automatically restart box and then click ok.

I'm looking for the way to stop the blue screen of death automatic restart.
Thanks for your help!

Hey all, it's been awhile.
The problem I'm having is I finally decided to update to IE 8 incase my Firefox went down for some reason. Now IE 8 claims that only it can show gif files for me. I've tried using my normal viewing program, Vue Print Pro32 and it won't show gif's anymore. I have already went back into Vue Pro and tried to re associate gif's to Vue Pro but it didn't work.
Any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this problem or should I just rip out IE?
Problem solved. Just go to the file you want and click it open, then right click the picture and choose open with. Click on choose default program and it will set the association up for you. You can also put a check in the box on that last page to make it so the one program will always open that type of file.

All you need to do to change the resolution is to go to the desktop.
Right click on it and choose properties then you will a box pop up called display properties, click on the tab that says settings.
Then you will see a slide bar that allows you to set your monitor to different settings.

Just click the screen print button. Then open up your viewing program and click edit. Then click on paste image and you're done. Don't forget to click on file and then save to keep the screen print.

Here is a link to Microsoft about that problem, hopefully it will help you. Otherwise, I don't know what the problem is.
Is the XP Pro you are using a legit version?

Try this site for that error message.

I've been asked if it is necessary for the average computer user to have .NET (any of the versions) on their computer. If they are not intending to code anything.
What do you guys think?

Hi Monica,
Your welcome for the help. I am not sure why the songs have sped up.
I would give Jmmijo's suggestion a try in case the drivers at the other site weren't the correct ones for your operating system.
They were for Win 2000 and Win XP.

Hi Monica,
Here is another link. The download is approx. halfway down the page. The first link is a dead one but the other 2 should work no problem.
If those don't work let me know and we can go from there.

Hi Monica,
This is what I found using Google. Just make sure you scan the zip with your anti-virus first after you download it.
Just unzip it and run the program and that should do it. If not write back.

Hi Huntsgirl,
It isn't that people on here are ignoring your question. I just think like me they aren't sure how to fix the problem. Have you tried contacting tech support from the software company and asking them why it is happening.
-
Since we have no clue what program you are talking about since you don't bother to say. I would re-install and you do that by running the software for whatever program you are talking about.

I agree with Wilhelmus, ESET Nod32 has been great so far.

TriMersion,
We don't do illegal things or condone illegal things on this site.
You need to go somewhere else.

You already have the answer as to why some do that. For the money that they want to rip you off for. That is programs like spyware bit that do that. I have yet to run across an anti-virus program that does that to you.
-
Well I ran all the scanners I have and they found nothing. I ran spybot, AdAware, HiJackThis, CW Shredder, and a few others and everything came back negative. I ran my anti-virus and that came back negative.
I noticed that someone had posted problems with the newest Zone Alarm Pro update. So I went to their forums and there are what seemed about 15+ pages of problems people are having after the newest update.
So I checked into that and still couldn't see anything that matched my problem. I tried to get into safe mode repeatedly and I was blocked at my login page. I also had disconnected the cable from the modem right after the problem started just in case I had somehow been taken over.
I had the tech in earlier today and he tried a lot of different programs to see if the hard drive had gone bad but it came back clean,
So finally he did a rewrite of the MBR and so far so good (Knocking on wood) that everything is working again and just to be safe about ZA I download version 6.5 and dumped 7.0 just to be safe.

You can run those self-extractors without hurting your comp. I'm just hoping that this will do the trick or I will have to get one of the other guys in here to take over. I am beginning to run out of ideas.
Stacy check your messages. I sent you something. Just go up to my stuff and you will see the menu listing messages.

Computer Spamming E-Mails
in Security
Posted
Hey all it's been a long time.
My question is this. I have been told by some companies that my compuer is spamming them. I went thru with every malware program and re-ran scans with my anti-virus and everything seems ok with me.
Is there a way to test my computer to see if it is still spamming??
Thanks for any help you can give me on this matter.
