You can download the zipped driver here, you just have to register but doing that is free. http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/drivers/41/41540.htm
  2. Hi Pat, Try this and see if it helps. Uninstall everything you installed for the Logitech QuickCam including all the extra programs. Then reinstall only the QuickCams drivers and see if that helps.

    winmyy32.dll virus! help please

Hi Marissa, Boy you have lots of stuff in your computer. I see that you are using McAfee but also have Symantec antivirus programs on the list, so lets get rid of that at the sametime. #1 make sure that System Restore is turned off before we start this. You can turn it back on after we get rid of the junk. One question do you really need 3 extra toolbar programs? If not then put checkmarks next to the Google and the Yahoo toolbars. I see that you are using a hotkey program, do you need zHotkey.exe? If not then put a checkmark next to it to delete it also. Put checkmarks next to all the items below and click on fixed check. O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [showWnd] ShowWnd.exe this is a trojan O20 - Winlogon Notify: winmyy32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winmyy32.dll O23 - Service: Automatic LiveUpdate Scheduler - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe O23 - Service: LiveUpdate - Symantec Corporation - C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\LIVEUP~1\LUCOMS~1.EXE O23 - Service: SymWMI Service (SymWSC) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Security Center\SymWSC.exe Do those for now and repost a new HiJackThis log and we will go from there.

    winmyy32.dll virus! help please

Did you remember to turn off System Restore before you did what Sampson suggested? A program that should be able to remove it is HiJackThis, you can get it at this site. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=3155 Run this program and then post the results in this thread and then we will take it from there.
  5. You can also use a hub to set up a dual connection. You may need to manually setup the network connection.

Not meaning to butt in on what Sampson told you but if you are using Win XP be sure to turn off System Restore before you do the scan.

XP tries to configure deleted software

There are several ways to do this. #1 check your program folder in Windows to make sure all traces are gone from there. #2 if you feel comfortable messing around in the Registry file, you can do a search for the name of that program and delete all references to it in there. #3 if you don't feel comfortable messing in the folder then you can download a program that will get rid of the leftovers for you. You can get a program here that will do the job for you. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?id=15&sort=7 If you know nothing about the registry file, then grab a program. One error in deleting things will lead to reinstalling Windows. Also, always make a backup of the registry before you do anything to it.

    Forum merge?

It sounds like a good idea Philipp and I agree with Felix that it might help windows people become interested in linux. On a different subject associated with the merger. Do you think you will make a sticky for people on how to post before they make a post in the forums?

    buy software survey

There are 1000's of online vendors. It all depends upon what type of software you are looking to buy. Once you figure out what software you want to buy then go to http://google.com and enter in the name of the software and it will give you a list of online vendors that sell it.

    my cam makes static noise!!

You have a few options for that. One, look in the manual that came with the cam. Two, go to logitech's website. Plus if it happens to all your friends with the same cam, than it sounds like a crappy cam and personally I would return it for another model.

    my cam makes static noise!!

Well considering the fact that the website doesn't even list a fix for it. Do you really want the hassle of trying to find one, when you can just as easily take it back for a new one. Have you tried their free tech support?

    Crashing

Hey Char, I finally found your answer to the parts. The little part is what the heatsink clip hooks onto to hold it down in place. You need to find a way to get it attached back in place so you can hook the clap under it. I found this picture of your motherboard showing both parts. http://www.chaintech.com.tw/tw/images/Products/Motherboard/9bia_L.jpg

It's job is to pull heat away from the CPU. So with yours not being in it's proper place ontop of the CPU, that would explain why your temperatures are so high. Try and reseat the heatsink and see if that helps to cool it down some.

As for the pictures, I am not sure what the small piece is but the large silver piece is your heatsink.

I CANT REMOVE THE SIMS FROM MY COMPUTER... PLEASE HELP!

That is of course if you don't mind all the parts that the Sims installed in your registry files being left behind. Your best bet is to get a program that removes that excess junk for you. Go here and download this free program and let it do the job for you. http://www.majorgeeks.com/WT_RegCleanerXP_d3560.html and always backup your registry files before you do anything to them and this program allows you to do that.

Is there any way to remove scratches off a disc?

There are a couple of ways to fix scratches. You could go out and buy a gadget called Disk Doctor. You can also lightly buff toothpaste into the scratches to fill them in.

    Crashing

Hi Char, welcome back to the forum. Let me ease your mind on one of the problems you mentioned. When you play a game online you are logging into another computer, so are those other people you see. There is nothing on your computer that handles the other 1000 people in town. As for the large part that you said was moving around in your computer. I would guess that it is the heatsink for your CPU but others in here will know for certain.
